Carne is a great teacher to take. Her class was not difficult just make sure to do the readings. I never did but students in my class would do group study sessions before our tests and that was enough for me to pass and do well on her tests. Randomly gives extra credit so go to class!

Very nice woman who has a passion for cultural anthropology. She shares lots of stories, most of which are off topic (you will learn a lot about her personal life). Tests are straight forward and the papers are based off movies watched in class and are incredibly short. The readings are covered in class

Her classes were very eye opening and educational. The books we read were fine choices on the field subject. I would take her class again and it was enjoyable. Study for the exams. Wrote a few papers.

Dr. Carne is very knowledgeable about her field. She understands that most people in the class are here for a prerequisite and not Anthropology majors. If you do your part by submitting well formated writing and study the text you will do well.

You only have 2 exams none of which are accumulative. Don't buy the main textbook just buy the 2 reading books because you will be tested on them. She only sometimes takes attendance but even if you miss the class all the powerpoints are on blackboard. The only homework you have is writing 1 page of a reflection of a movie 3 times.

Prof Carne is so incredibly boring. Yes, this class is easy. But she is consistently getting side-tracked and is very monotonous. It's hard to enjoy her class, when even she doesn't seem like she enjoys it. I would recommend taking this course with a different professor if you hope to leave with any sort of relevant knowledge.

Dr. Carne is a great professor. I learned a lot from this introductory class. She kept class interesting and was very familiar with the material presented. She offered real life examples and stories of cultural experiences. I wish she taught more classes because I would definitely take them.

I tool ANTH 1040 in class and love it because Professor Carne was very informative. We watched very interesting videos and had to write 3 reaction papers. Definitely had to read the ethnography for the exams. She is very helpful and is hilarious. I would take another class with her anytime.

Glenda was incredibly detailed in the lectures and with the power points. If you attended class she would tell you what you would actually need to know for the exams. The readings were easy and so were the tests if you attended class and took notes. She's a great professor and obviously loves anthropology.

I took the hybrid version of this course. I definitely liked it. There were weekly quizzes that had about 5-10 questions that were pretty easy. There were also two reaction papers which were very simple too. The only class time was at the beginning of the year and for midterm and final.

This class is an intro class so it is relatively easy. Even if you aren't a good writer she will still give you 50/50 on video reactions. Study for the tests. She gives study guides. Reading the texts aren't necessary.

I'm confused because all she did was talk about her personal life and tell the story of how her love child son came into the world. Didn't learn a single thing unless it was me teaching myself.

You are only given two assignments and two tests, so not a lot to fall back on. She is not lenient at all and doesn't really seem to care about the class and even less about students. Tests were difficult as she hardly discussed exam material/topics in depth in lecture. Definitely going to avoid this one and you should too while you can!

I hated the class, but I hated it even more because of the teacher; she doesn't care about the class (at least the intro to anthro class I took), but she cares more about her research.

If I were teaching an intro anthro class to a bunch of kids who weren't majoring in anthro I would probably teach the same way. Lack of motivation and interest were prevalent. That being said, if you don't get at least a B in this class, drop out of school and go drive a truck or something.

She tells a lot of personal stories and gets off track a lot, but she's good at clarifying. The onlydown side is your only buffer to the two tests she offers is about 125 points that are relatively hard to get.

She's a nice lady and knows much about Anthropology, but doesn't really teach it. I'm sitting in my third class of the semester (I have it once a week), and have still learned nothing. She rambles on about nonsense often, and tells tons of boring stories about her life that aren't the least bit relevant to the class. Not a class I enjoy.
