Easily one of my favorite history profs at U of C. His lectures were super interesting and his enthusiasm for the material made the class really fun. He was very willing to answer questions too, and he gave a lot of good advice for the assignments in the course. Would definitely recommend.

Hardest class I've ever taken. Should easily be a 400-level class, can't believe I'm expected to write 3 papers for a 300-level class, 2 of them being timed and in-class only. The expectation is insane.

Dr. Wilkinson was a super fun prof! He has a really interesting take on WW1 history and his perspective was very refreshing. Although some lectures were a bit dry, he's very enthusiastic and passionate. Some reviews here say that he's a tough grader although I did not find that, I found him to be very fair. You do have to make sure to come to class

Typically a hot and cold prof, some of his classes are very energized and others aren't. Doing the readings and going to class is crucial if you expect to do well in his class, especially because he is a hard marker and most of his assignments and tests are written. As long as you show up to class and put in the work, you'll do fine.

Have had Dr. Wilkinson a few times now and he is a great prof. His lectures are engaging and he's helpful outside of class to better your writing skills. Tests are fair and mostly pertain to the lecture material. You have to work for an A (which is why I think there are some lower ratings on here), but one of the best profs at U of C.

Assignments are hard and kind of weird, tests are also hard and all writtten so you got to know your stuff. He will test you on stuff that is in the textbook but not discussed in class which sucks. Gotta write down everything he says. However, his lectures are awesome and super fun. He is so passionate and engaging. I learned so much in this class.

I took this class in my final year to fill my option requirements. I really enjoyed Prof. Wilkinson's enthusiasm for the content, and I think if you make a solid effort you will do well. That being said, for a first year course this was a pretty intimidating class. I'd suggest that first years delay taking this class until second year if possible!

Always goes off on tangents. He does not post any lecture material on D2L. Assignments are an odd paradigm of evaluation, and are not clear on expectations. Grades subjectively and does not adhere to rubric.

Very nice man, but his lectures can be difficult to keep up with. He doesn't provide much material on d2L so goodluck if you're notes aren't up to speed.

Pretty decent guy. Although his lectures sometimes do get messy and he might rant at something for a bit, he still knows his stuff. Assignments were odd, but he is a fair marker as long as you put in the effort! Attendance is mandatory for sure; If you dont go to class, good luck passing

He is a nice person but lectures are very hard to follow and contain massive amounts of information. His outlines on the papers are very hard to follow and you are left with more questions than answers. Overall he is not very respectful to freshmen and responds quite sarcastically to questions in class, you're better off sending an email.

Very unorganized. Takes forever to mark assignments and tests and makes excuses to why he didnt mark them. His midterm and final is pre easy though and lets you bring a "memory" guide to help you. You HAVE to go to class cause there are no powerpoints and he just talks.

One of the best profs at U of C, his lectures are very engaging and mandatory to attend if you want to pass as he doesn't post slides. Text book was not necessary because he uses lecture material to draw from for exam questions. Not the easiest marker, but even as a history major I didn't find the reading outrageous.

His assignments are nothing related to the class. Did not enjoy his class at all. Reading was not related to things talked in class at all. Takes FOREVER to mark stuff and has a high standard. Dont take for a GPA booster, more for those History kids. Guy also makes fun of other majors, when he only has a history degree..

He has completely redone HTST 204 into a great first-year course. Very light reading, so of you like history but don't want to be up all night reading, this is the course for you. Gives amazing lectures, great feedback on assignments and his tests are very well laid out. Doesn't post notes online, and likes to use EVERY second of class time.

His class is pretty boring. Talks and talks and his powerpoints have no information on them. Assignment are the worst, nothing related to the course; web analysis, didn't know I was taking a Computer Science class :/ The readings he gives dont relate to material in class and its new stuff and expects you to read them.

I took this class because I needed it for my major. I like military history so I already thought I would enjoy it, but Wilkinson is now one of my favourite professors I've had. He's easy to talk to if you have questions, and very accessible outside class. His lectures do jump around a bit, but just make sure you pay attention and you'll be fine.

Gives alo of information during his lectures. I thought I did really well on the final but I guess not. Clear on final and midterm but must copy exactly what he says because he does not post notes on D2L. He also lets you bring a cheat sheet on final.

Glenn is a cool guy but some of his lectures can be so boring. You need to go to class to succeed. He almost always goes overtime. He gets off topic really easy, doesn't know how to reign in dumb questions quickly. His tests and assignments are fair and marked fairly. Overall, if the material is something you like, hes a good guy to take a class wi

Of course you have to read to do well on the tests - this is a history course. His courses are not for you if you don't like to read. As long as you take initiative to do the reading and participate in the lectures, a good grade will follow. Wilkinson is a great prof but expects a lot from his students. You have to put in the work.
