Professor Bear is definitely not an easy professor. You do have to do work outside of class in order to do well, and there is an entire textbook to read along with a smaller book, but both are very interesting if you are interested in psychology, they are also not dry like some texts can be. Lectures are included on exams, so show up!

He didn't prepare us for the exams and was extremely ambiguous. Very frustrating. You have to read the whole book to pass. He made the first test have only 2 chapers on it and the third one have 6 chapters plus an additional 5 from a side book. You don't really know what to study. Would NOT recommend. Super nice person though.

This class is a cake walk. If you can't pass this hurdle, I have no idea how you got into college. One of the easiest classes in the college.

It seems the only way you do well is if you are a girl, he is a beyond terrible teacher, more than half of his class each semester drops his class semester so get the hint, he won't teach you a single thing, he mutters and makes everyone uncomfortable at times, just take a different professor any one else bUT him

THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAD AT RAMAPO. I HAD TO TEACH MYSELF. HE NEVER HELP ME WHEN I NEEDED HELP OR WHEN I ASKED QUESTIONS. IF I WAS YOU I WOULD NOT TAKE HIM. I DROP AND TOOK ANOTHER PROFESSOR. BEST CHOICE I EVER MADE

Not a bad guy, Just all kinds of crazy. Class was hysterical cuz of all his madness. (That he thinks is normal) Just gotta teach yourself everything from his textbooks and should be fine. Also, the grading margins are insane. A 92 is an A-. So you could get a 91 in the class and you'll still end up with a B+. Not super fair.

if you read you will be fine. Bear wrote the textbooks in such a way you will retain the information, so it's impossible to not do well if you read his books. the class is not self taught since the textbooks were written by the teacher in a way that completely walks you through it. he is always available and receptive to questions and is v helpful

People saying hes a good teacher are delusional, the entire class is self taught, the tests are terrible as he tests you on the book entirely, hes a somewhat nice guy but he tells you many personal things that make you uncomfortable, he spends weeks on the same subjects and doesnt even attempt to teach them or tell you whats on the test dont do it

This was my favorite class at Ramapo last semester. He makes you work for the A, and rarely teaches from the book. You must attend class to do well on the test, or get notes. Homework is easy. He lets you use a full page of notes on the exams which is helpful! Take him and you will learn a lot.

My favorite professor ever. His creative, clear, logical thinking made me fall in love with social psychology and I went on to get a PhD in it. Years later he still prepares for each and every class, does research and evolves with the field. Such an asset to Ramapo!

The class is difficult because there is so much information involved. However, if you read and study you should be able to pass no problem. It's more conceptual than mathematical.

Dr. Bear is one of the most intelligent and caring professors I've had. Yes, he has high standards, as he should. Hey, people, this is college. But he's not as difficult as many have said. He lets you rewrite papers which I think is great. Also, he is very generous with his time if you need any extra help. If you do the work, you'll be fine.

This class is hard, but if you do the work you will be fine. He doesn't go over much of the book and expects you to do it on you own. The classes can be boring, but attending them will help your grade. He explains what he wants in such detail and is always willing to help. He goes out of his way to be as helpful as he can.

Not my cup of tea. Lectures are a waste of time and he will keep you until the very last second. Very nice man, I learned a few cool things, but overall he screwed up my GPA because getting an A is tough even if you are a good student. I would not recommend but if you get stuck with him its not the end of the world. A LOT OF HOMEWORK!

He's a really great guy, just not the best teacher. He's taught social psych for 40 years or so, and it shows. He doesn't really teach the material anymore, he just kind of rambles on about specific topics. We spent weeks on Stanley Milgram's experiment, watching the same film multiple times. It's easy to pass and you don't have to go to class tho

He doesn't teach at all. The whole class is self taught so you need to read the textbook. he has horrible social skills and stutters all the time. He loses track of what he was originally saying and goes off topics all the time. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Great guy, not a great professor. Makes it clear that he will not spoonfeed the material; in fact he rarely goes over the material in the book (but he knows that). You read the textbook cover to cover. If you take good notes from the book, you'll do well on exams. Pay attention in class; has tests on meetings. Let's you rewrite all essays

His class is very much based on opinion. He only focused on one psychologist and repeated the same video with the same comments for 3 different classes. He lets you re-write papers which is cool. Attendance is not mandatory but half of each test was based on what he said during class. Never talks about the text book but you have to know it.

Do not take this professor. He "teaches" outdated misogynistic "lessons" and refuses to acknowledge when he's been called out. He says he can fail you if you miss one assignment out of ten. And his "free" rewrite policy seems nice until you're being FORCED to rewrite a paper. AVOID IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

Professor is a really nice person but not the greatest teacher. He stutters quite a bit and is very unclear when giving a lesson. Attending class is basically pointless because nothing is taught while you're there. The class and his ridiculously long, rambling exams are based on the entire textbook which also rambles on. I don't suggest his class.
