Prof. Spice is an amazing professor and an amazing guy! He always has time to meet with students and is incredibly passionate about what he teaches. I would highly recommend taking a class with him at some point during your time at W&L (particularly in sound technology)!

Doc Spice makes music theory (ack!) easy and fun (yay!). He's also not that hard a grader, although if you have anything open to interpretive grading (like an essay), he's unclear on what he expects. Still, great prof.

Professor Spice is great and this class is interesting. The weekly multiple choice/listening quizzes from the text book are VERY time consuming and detail oriented. Tests were take-home, open note, and much easier.

Dr. Spice does indeed make Music History fun, despite the early hour, to quote the previous rater. This was one of my favorite classes this term. Watch out for the quizzes; they come from the textbook-maker and can be somewhat esoteric.

Spice made Music History so much fun, despite the early hour. Very easy grader, and very understanding if you talk to him about absences/papers/etc. Don't get blindsided by the little bit of actual work you have to do (i.e., a short paper or two).

The class is not as easy as everyone says, especially if you don't have a musical ear. Professor Spice is very entertaining though, and quite knowledgeable about the material. He offers lots of chances for extra credit and is always available to meet with. He has so much enthusiasm for teaching.
