Comment:

Possibly the most loving, caring professor I've ever had, even at Pepperdine. Incredibly relaxed classroom environment, and endless forgiveness. Grade is made up almost entirely by 2 tests, but they aren't hard at all, and there are 2 journals to help boost the grade. 10/10 would highly recommend Greg Daum for any class

Comment:

Daum is the coolest. Even as someone who didn't want to take another Religion class, I thoroughly enjoyed this class. He is careful to try and understand things from all view points, which I really appreciated, and doesn't try to convert anyone, just gives facts. Such a sweet guy, and he is always there to talk if you need it, which is really nice.

I loved Daum as a guy. He is great and energetic and enjoyable, even in an 8am class. He really loves what he does and I appreciated the effort he put into class. My problem with him is that he grades speeches for things he never mentioned being wrong in class. Study for tests bc they aren't easy and take him for REL instead.

Comment:

He tricks you by making you think that he is an easy grader. All the material in class seems like common sense but when you get the test, you'll be surprised. His tests are nonsense. He makes it as difficult as it can be and tell you "maybe you didn't study enough, don't blame me." It is definitely a hard class unless you really like the material.

Professor Daum is such a wonderful human being! He really cares about his students and does an amazing job of trying to get to know each and every one of them. His lectures are really easy to follow along to and he is always available and eager to answer any questions that you might have. You have to take him at least once.

I just got done with Professor Daum for COM313 this past summer. Though I think he's a good person at heart, his grading system is very strange. I worked really hard in his class and even handed in my work early, and I got an A- in the class. Even though he is a great teacher, I am warning you... He pulls your grade out nowhere.

Take Daum for anything and everything. He cares so much for his students and is an absolute angel. Don't be fooled - his classes aren't super easy. He has high expectations. But if you pay attention, participate, and stay engaged, you'll love him and the class, and high grades will come naturally.

Daum gives a reasonable amount of work for this GE class (some other professors should take note of it). Your notes are essentially the test. If you study your notes for the exams and turn in your journal on time, you can pretty much be guaranteed an A. But be warned...I didn't always agree with his religions views.

Professor Daum is by far one of my favorite professors at Pepperdine. If you have the opportunity to take his religion course (which he only offers occasionally), TAKE IT! The class is by no means easy to get an A but fairly easy to get a B. He is so passionate and such a caring man. He always lets you out early and there's basically no homework.

His grading for this course is extremely unreasonable for a GE course! He tells students the first day that they should've taken this course at a community college! He rarely gives out A's. This class was useless and didn't improve my public speaking skills in the slightest--if anything it increased my anxiety!

Professor Daum is an excellent teacher. He really cares about public speaking and teaching, so if you take this class, you will learn a lot of information that will benefit you for the rest of your life. That being said, prepare to work. You have to TRY to fail, but he rarely gives out A's. I would recommend this class to those who want to learn

Exceptionally difficult grader. I spent literally 10 hours one Saturday and 5 hours the following Sunday working on a speech only to receive a B on it. Very, VERY hard A. He is an AMAZING guy but I would rather have him for religion than for speech. Do NOT take him for an easy Speech 180 course!

I had Daum for Speech 180 and Religion 102 and I really liked him. Speech, he is a hard grader and I liked him much more in religion. He made me so much more interested in actually understanding my religion. But study for the tests! He does try to be like one of the kids sometimes, but he will also help you if you get in a bind. Great guy!

Public speaking has always been a breeze for me, and I found it very difficult to make an "A" in this course. Daum constantly challenges you and is a really nice guy, but DO NOT take his class if you're expecting a blow off course.
