Comment:
Graded by 2 essays and an exam. I did all three of them over the course of 3 days and somehow managed to get a very good grade. His lectures are rapid, monotonous and confusing. He's very messy with how he organises the course. If you're interested in content, don't take this course, find a better prof.

Brilliant prof and lecturer. While participation doesn't count, and you can get by without attending class, his lectures are so insightful and interesting and helpful for essay-writing. Keep in mind essays are also about 80% of your final grade. Henderson is an expert in modernist works, so if you're interested in the genre I highly recommend him!

Great professor, one of the best in the department. Charismatic, but you need patience to understand why he's great at what he does.

Good professor, very nice and easily approachable. He does not provide dates for the readings but sends emails to help keep students on track. Very considerate with schedules and willing to help when asked.

Comment:
Professor Henderson assumes that everyone in his class already has a knowledge of his subject (for me, Rhetoric). He often sounds like he is speaking down to his students. He is highly repetitive, but speaks quickly and quietly, so if you do not get a seat near the front, there is really no point in being there. He is unclear about assignments.

syllabus was unorganized, the course lacked focus - we were analyzing readings to no particular end, Henderson needs to ask the class if they have any questions once in awhile, the expectations and grading are fuzzy

The syllabus was somewhat disorganized because there were no dates, but the professor was hilarious and easy-going. Oddly enough, we did not have to read anything other than the text-book, even if they were on the syllabus.

Hilarious and easy-going professor. Disorganized syllabus with no dates, though. However, grading seems somewhat arbitrary. All of my markedly different assignments received the exact same mark. I'm not complaining, since I still received an A, but their limited marking variation was most likely done to make their lives easier.

Content was difficult and his lectures were hard to understand, but the grading isn't bad. For what it is, he does a pretty good job.

I was really excited for this class going into it. The syllabus was the first issue...it had no dates, which was an issue which continued into the lectures where we jumped around a lot. Making notes for this class were also difficult as many times it was hard to catch what he was saying. The lack of structure is what was wrong.

Complaints about Henderson's dryness are unfounded. He does not use powerpoint, audio, a charismatic method of delievery, or create some rediculous incentive to participate when 98% of the class couldn't have an insightfull thought on the material to save their lives, but compensates for this with an often over looked aspect of a lecture: content

He's extremely knowledgeable and goes in-depth with every text and brings up interesting points. Gives a lot of readings though and doesn't provide a detailed time frame for each, so you're literally jumping from novel to novel in a single lecture. In terms of lecturing, couldn't catch/understand what he was saying a lot of the time.

Personable; delivers lectures well w/ a mixture of textbook knowledge/general academic consensus as well as personal opinions. Had difficulty taking notes because he reads off notes speedily w/o explanation (containing references which I don't understand/can't catch). Will answer Qs though but only if you ask. Marks fairly.

So knowledgeable and helpful. Very easygoing. Doesn't require attendance or participation. Doesn't hold your hand through the subject, but expects you to be responsible with regards to your workload. Treats you like an adult.

what can i say about henderson? you either love him or you hate him. very boring, but brings up interesting points. he is very knowledgable but this is affected by the fact that he reads off of a paper for the entire lecture. let's just say i would prefer to go out for a beer with the guy over listening to a lecture.

Henderson is my inspiration. I leave his class with thoughts swarming in my head, and sitting in his lectures are what I look forward to in every week. Very insightful, helpful, interesting, has a great sense of humour... I understand his classes may be appealing to a certain taste in literature but he manages to grab attention and maintain it.

Sometimes boring and dry, but lack of slides or media gave an accuse to listen closely instead of copying anything down. Had many funny anecdotes.
