Giuliana is the best. She wants you to enjoy the language and culture, so she makes her classes accessible and enjoyable. She's extremely laid back, sometimes not giving instructions, but that's the Italian way. Show up to class, enjoy yourself and you will get a good grade.

Giuliana is a very sweet woman and cares about her students and their grades. Her class was easy, she doesn't try to trick you. Gives you a study guide before every exam. There was no final, just a final paper. I would recommend her if you aren't very good at history!

Fazzion is a really nice Italian lady. I think she knows a lot about Italian History. Unfortunately she has no clue how to lay out a coherent lecture and rambles on about random topics. This made class miserable. I skipped a few classes each month, did the study guides, and did well on exams because they are just short answer. Wouldn't recommend.

go to class! granted her stories can be kind of muddled but she takes attendance and hands out these super awesome time lines which is where you get most of your info from. textbook is easy to read but jumps around so her time lines help put things into perspective. tests and quizzes are pretty easy, basically just info dumps

took this class during Maymester just to get it overwith,& learned more than I had in my past 2 sems. of Italian combined. She is the nicest & most clear Ital professor @ JMU & probably the overall best professor I've had. She just wants everyone to understand the basics & do well, but you can't completely slack off. Dr. Fazzion`s class on contemporary Italian history was more or less a breeze. She teaches straight out of the book and breaks up the class into groups the last couple of weeks to do powerpoints on Italy`s different regions. Three tests (all essay, unfortunately) and an 8 page paper due on anything Italian. Some busy work, but do it and get an A.
