he's pleasant and very friendly but doesn't do a very goo djob explaining the theories or equations that we used, possibly just because his thick accent is hard to follow. Book is old fashion, i've heard other statistic classes are much easier and make more sense.

dont even try using logic. He's hella german and has trouble teaching the material. Hes prolly been teaching out of the same black comp. notebook for years. Nice guy if your pleasant to him. Definetly get the book even tho its expensive. DO THE H/W TO PASS . the tests are 5 ?'s the final is ten and you get cheat sheets on all 3 but the final.

This math class is on statistics, but all he ever does is talk about gambling. i see the comparison, but legit, he waists so much time on talking about other useless subjects, examples go from "stomach cancer in japan, how to save gas, the reason why people gamble"

Comment:

Many different theories but little time for any of them. Advisors are told it's easier than Calc I. My tutor (a professor) thought it was very hard due to touching on so many different theories. Professor Herda understands that. He gives credit for on time homework and makes the course doable, if you work at it. Available for help, nice person.

Be warned, but in all fairness he makes himself available during office hours, in fact he seems to do this to for many times, and this is a quote: "I'm not going to answer that question, because we have so much material to cover..." Class time is some sort of race, to weed out those not willing to work 6 hours p day at this! 75% drop out rate.

He is a great professor. Always read the book before going to class. So of course, attend his class regularly and be on time. Don’t remember the problems rather understand the methods because he makes his own problems. Ask him if you don’t understand. Final exam will be fun if you follow most of his lectures.

This is in regard to the final exam Professor Herda gives and complain that is is like "nothing that was tought in a class". I just took a final on Differential equations (MA 310) with him. The final was FAIR. Period. Attend all the lectures, read the textbook, do all the assignments, and ask to clarify some points - and you'll pass the final.

i didnt want to jump the gun and give this teacher a review after the first test, so i gave him the whole semester to prove to me if hes a good teacher. after three tests and many poorly guided lectures, this teacher proved to be the worst math teacher i have ever had. well, besides joan boorstein of course.

I believe he is a really nice person and love to teach and help students. In my case, he helped me every time I asked after class or went to office. I almost fail the class but it wouldn't have been because of him. He resumize enough to make it clear and understandable.Yet,he is really quick and strict. READ the BOOK!, go to class and do homework!

WORST CLASS EVER. Anyone teaching statistics should know better than to grade by the bell curve. Anyone teaching college-level classes should also know better than to spend the entire period copying from book to board - and doing it wrong. He has tenure, won't get fired, so AVOID!!!!

As mentioned above, straight from the book, but when he spends a class covering a problem only to find that he comes up with a different answer, never admits that he is wrong. Exams are incredibly difficult and it is hard to pull a decent grade, as he is stingy with partial credit.
