Don't take him if you don't want to work. It is no mystery CofC DSCI profs are the worst, but if you want some true value to our worthless degree TAKE HIM! I learned more from him than I did 4 years at CofC. This isnt textbook knowledge, it is real life knowledge, and he is your coach! Come prepared do the work and LISTEN! He is so knowledgeable.

Comment:

Okay, so if you were to ask me in January if I liked Professor Hodges, I would have laughed in your face and would tell you to avoid him. However, after having Hodges for a whole semester, he was fantastic. He sets the bar high during the first week of class so be prepared to work super hard. It is worth it! I learned so much from him! TAKE HIM.

Comment:

Professor Hodges has to be one of the absolute worst professors that I have had. I haven't had ONE good business professor. They are all entitled and do not get off their high horses to help you. Avoid him at all costs. I wish I had Perault for Business Policy but of course her class was closed out immediately.

Comment:

I took Dr. Hodges over the summer and I have to say after everything was said and done I really got a lot out of this class. You will be challenged, most likely feel overwhelmed but that what he wants you to feel! Take him, stick it out and go along with his game. Show that you care and you'll be fine! Best professor I had at CofC!

A very good professor. Be there every day. You can only miss 2 classes before he fails you. He tells a lot of good stories. The beginning of the year he is strict on assignments, but it gets better the later in the year. He will help your college career when you are done.

The class itself isn't that hard once you know what he's looking for, but the homework can take forever. He will belittle people in the class & make you feel stupid. He's very strict & can't seem to get off his high horse. He thinks he's better than other professors (he's said it)but really HE'S HORRIBLE & I will never take a class he teaches again

If you are even considering a job directly out of undergrad, then this class is integral. Hodges is great professor and mentor who cares about your future. Do not expect a nod from him if you are unprepared or show a lack of effort. Hmm... preparedness and effort... what a concept.

Dreaded going to his class because he yells at you all class long. After a few weeks you get used to it and learn to just deal with it. Some of assignments are difficult, some are not. Be prepared to work and dont show up to class unprepared or he will kick you out. Wants students to be prepared for how the real world is.

Hodges is a good guy who wants you succeed however, he is not there to help at all along the way. In fact he actually gets annoyed when he is asked questions about assignments over email. Also i had a family emergency causing me to leave the state and he did not understand. That lowered my grade ten points. Just expect to do a lot on your own.

Hodges started teaching MGMT105 because he felt like his 408 students weren't prepared. Great teacher, very animated. Attendance is IMPORTANT! 2 absences and he will make you drop. There are about 8 papers to write, make sure you follow his directions. Take really good notes, as sometimes he can be confusing.

DO not take if yon plan on not working. This is the hardest class Ive ever taken. With that being said . I would trade every other class I have taken since being at COFC and replace it with 4 years of hodges if I could. I learned more in this class than the rest combined. He will try and scare you and intimidate you but stick with it. Big bama fan.

He's a tough teacher, but extremely helpful. He wants his students to be the best in the business world and he does a great job to prepare you for it. Do the papers exactly like he wants them and participate in class and you're going to get a good grade in the class.

First couple days till the add drop period ends and he will scare the crap out of you to get people to drop. Stick with it though, turned out to be extremely helpful and you'll learn stuff you won't learn anywhere else in this school. 1 project, 1 long paper (23 pgs, its not bad), 0 tests, a couple of short papers, then movie watching at the end.

Favorite professor. Talks a big game the first couple weeks and 50% of my class dropped, which is his point. Expects you to be prepared everyday. Can't miss more than 2 classes but you won't want to. Loves to entertain. Borderline inappropriate at times and doesn't grade objectively but it's rare that he gives out below a B. Play along, you're good

Wish i never took this class Felt belittled when asking for help. He is better than you. He will tell you that. He gets off on making his own templates that don''t work. It''s not that he didn''t try it just seemed that he was more interested in stroking his ego than teaching. And he lives on Kiawah Island which makes him more awesome than you.

Dr. Hodges is essentially retired from the private sector, but he treats you like business professionals in this class. He intimidates you during class and then assigns work that he doesn't grade objectively. However, his intent is not to fail you, and you do well if he plans to "hire" you. Attend class and be productive and you'll be surprised.

One of the best professor's I've had in college. I feel as if I learned more in his class than I did all my previous business classes combined. He seems difficult but as long as you put in the work and do what is asked of you then you will make no lower than a B. Hodges is hilarious! all these people are uptight about him, you have to take anything he says with a grain of salt. he is too funny when you learn to laugh at/with him. besides that he has homework with solutions exactly like the tests. very very easy to succeed if you just do the homeworks. one of my favorite professors!

I learned so much from his class. He teaches you how to analyze businesses and write professionally. He comes off aggressive until the add drop period is over after he is the nicest guy ever. Take most of the stuff he says about leadership with a grain of salt. No one gets below a C in this class. I would take him over any other 408 teacher just because of how much more advanced everyone was after the class compared to people that took the other capstone teachers.

Best business teacher at CofC, its a shame I didn't take him before my last class of my college career. He is very intimidating the first few weeks and you will hate him at first, but do the work & weather the storm- its totally worth it! I've taken more from this class than any other from the CofC. Just be prepared to do work.
