AVOID unless you are a very hardworking student. Attendance isn't mandatory but there random in class assignments that count as a grade. His powerpoints are unclear so make sure you pay attention when he talks. He is a very funny and personable guy, just hard. Tests are hard!! (sidenote: he makes the department wide test for this section)

Weekly quizzes. Def need to read the textbook. Tests are hard & so are weekly quizzes. One huge group project. He's also a tough grader. He's a great guy, and always ready to help his students. Overall I would recommend.

Good lectures. Makes the stuff understandable. Constantly check Canvas for assignments because things tend to sneak up in this class. Exams comprise 50% of the grade. Exams are pretty difficult, averages hover around 75, 1st test being lowest. Group project is manageable but groups announced week before thanksgiving and was due week after break

I liked Reif and thought he was a pretty good professor. I struggled on the final project but Access is a pain in general. Quizzes/tests are straight from the textbook. Quizzes were dumb easy. Tests, not so much. CIS material can be easily mixed up so tests might trip you up. He doesn't take attendance but going helped a lot.

Reif is a nice man and knows what he is talking about but he makes this class way to hard. No matter how well you know the material the way he writes his tests is mean to almost trick you. He does a great job explaining things however his lectures are useless, he goes over the entire class going over 1 term, my friends in 204 all have A's accept me

He was really good and knew what he was teaching well. He was very helpful and probably one of the best COB teachers out there.

Overall he is okay. If you have to take him go for it, you will learn a lot. You will get most assignments the day before they are due (except for the project) and the quizzes you have to take before you learn the material in class. Read the textbook and take detailed notes and you will be fine. STUDY OR YOU WILL FAIL THE TESTS.

Pros: -Good lectures. Uses lots of metaphorical examples that make content easier to understand. -Very approachable. I felt comfortable talking to him and asking for help. Cons: -Will post things the day before they're due. -Group project had very little instruction. -Quizzes are due before the material is even covered in class.

He made this class awesome! He wants to make sure you understand the material and can apply it. He is there when you need help, but you have to work the problems through with him. He will never just tell you the answers. Review sessions before every test-come prepared with a ton of questions! The more you ask, the higher your grade will be.

He lives and dies by the text book. He doesnt use his own slide shows so lectures arnt that helpful. His tests are really hard but he isnt afraid to curve them. He has a lot of information on the subject but isnt the best at teaching it.

Do what you're told on all the assignments are you will easily get 100 percent for that 40% of the class. the other 60%, however, is JUST the exams. which are pretty hard, considering they have nothing to do with what he says in class. they are only based off the book, plus things he just expects you to know. study and its an easy A

Professor Reif is a great teacher if you actually pay attention, because his tests are based on understanding the information not just reading the book. Definitely not one of the easiest 204 professors, but he is a really good teacher and helps you to understand. Quizzes are easy 100's! Just pay attention and study and you'll be fine.

The class was an easy A because he paid little to no attention to the assignments that were turned in. His lectures ran very long and were overly simplistic. Belittles and changes topics rather than answering tough questions. Complete disregard for posting things on time. Overall learned very little from his course.

Harry is definitely a good teacher. If you have him, you are in good hands! All his quizzes are 10 questions and online. He gives a few in-class assignments that are literally just ways to boost your grade. I should have gotten an A, but I did not do so hot on the Access Project (my own fault). Make sure to take good notes and study well for exams!

To do well in this class you must focus entirely on the book. His lectures are just him reading PowerPoint slides that come straight from the book. Eventually I stopped taking notes in his class because they were rather useless. He is very nice and funny and cares about his students but he isn't the best at actually teaching.

204 should be one of the easier prerequisites but Reif's class will make your GPA implode. DO. NOT. TAKE. HIM if you want and easy A or B. He has 2 tests that are based strictly off the book. His lectures are absolutely useless but you have to go because of 3-5 random in class assignments. The final is just like the other two tests. Stay away.

I'm ambivalent about Reif. He is such a nice guy and seems to genuinely care about his students, but he would embarrass very good students instead of calling out the ones that don't pay attention or don't attend class. 464 is a good elective, not great.

I absolutely love Professor Reif!! He is a funny man and he truly cares about his students and he wants us all to do well. His tests are kind of hard, but you just have to study a little bit and you will be fine. All quizzes are online and the Access stuff is monotonous, but he will help you with anything! Take him!!!!!!

Reif gave me a bad vibe first time i met him. But he is the man. He relies heavily on the textbook but during class relates what you read by using real life examples. His 2 tests and final are worth 60% of your final grade which is rough, but he is definitely worth taking if you are willing to put in the work.
