Really terrible tbh, I'm in software eng and after this I seriously contemplated whether or not programming was for me. Lectures are normally irrelevant, and tests have a lot of questions based on obscure small things barely covered in the class. For a computer programmer, there are way too many typos in the assignments. If you have him, switch out

Horrible..... Lectures were terrible. Dry and boring at best. Mundane examples and an overall all attitude of not caring. Material on quizzes were gone over after the quiz was finished??? Assignments unclear. Had to email TA's multiple times, this would end up in so many changes in the assignment. Overall a horrible experience in thisclass

Must boring lectures I have ever had, slept through most of them. Even though I completely understood all the concepts before even taking the class, half the time in class I had no idea what he was talking about.

Terrible for 1st year students. Expects you to know everything. Heavily dependent on the book. Teaches programming using slides and doesn't show much examples in class.

Hausi Mueller is a very knowledgable person with a lot of experience but his inability to explain concepts in class makes his class not worthy of taking. He is very boring in class and just reads the slides. other than that, he tries to create interest in the minds of students by sometimes showing off some internet video at the end of his class.

The stuff he teaches in classes are not the same things he expects us to use in assignments ... hate having to write a blog every one or two weeks

Hausi is an intelligent man with many great accolades; however, his ability/motivation to engage students and properly instruct those without coding experience is lackluster. He reads of lecture slides, and assignment templates are usually broken. This class was very unorganized. Not super hard, but very frustrating.

His lectures are boring and hard to concentrate. His assignments are helpful. He is not helping though. I often had to learn things myself.

Comment:
CSC 111 didn't seem like a beginner programming class and wasn't organized well. The former is not directly the Professor's fault, while the latter was. He taught using slides and could put anyone to sleep; he repeated himself a lot which turned out to be boring, not useful; instructions he gave were littered with mistakes; it was over complicated.

Lectures aren't worth going to as he talks in the most monotone voice about a power point presentation that goes on about the wonders about the internet, expecting you to somehow learn the material from that. You will have to teach yourself everything via a long, boring textbook. Take Bill Bird's class, you might actually learn something.

I don't have much good to say about Hausi. The templates he creates for assignments are always useless for the assignments (filled with errors and bad code). This on top of the fact that the lectures are really boring and not educational made him one of my least favourite profs. If you have to opportunity to take Bill Bird do so!

Reads off slides, doesn't really make an effort to teach in the lectures, midterms are similar to the past ones you can study off of, if you take him, you'll have to do a lot of learning on your own.

To be honest, the man is a sweetheart; biggest meme you'll meet. However, he is not the greatest teacher, which is understandable when you're teaching programming fundamentals after many years of being active in the field. Wish i could give him a higher grade because i think he has swag to pass out, but his teaching is mediocre. Would recommend.

I'm sure he's a great guy, but you can't teach coding from PowerPoint, especially to a first-year class where some people have never coded before in their life. The only time I ever understood anything was when the TA taught the class and I ended up learning the material from my roommate. The assignments are pointless and long. Take Bill Bird!
