Helen is CRAZY but as long as you understand that coming into a class you'll be fine. She expects you to be present and willing to do a fair amount of work, but she is a fair grader. You have to work hard and take notes but she is a good professor. Voice and Body Movement is a scream if you don't take it seriously but ACT like you do.

This class is A LOT of work. Be prepared to be frequently overwhelmed and to not get help if you're struggling. She talks to you like you're dumb if you ask a question. I got mostly A's on assignments but I had to work really hard for it. This class doesn't transfer, so keep that in mind. Interesting content, go to class, she takes attendance.

this class started out alright, and quickly got dreadful. its required for the theater major, so all the people take it way too seriously. DONT take if you're not into new age, acting, or y-buzzing for 2 whole hours......

Inconsistent grading. Plays favorites like it's her job. From another planet. Her "Voice & Body" class WILL be the bane of your existence.

oh helen... this lady is crazy but I just love her! the class is easy if you do the work and REALLY get into the performances. everyone says it is useless for acting... but i disagree. it taught me how to ACT interested! if you're a theatre major you, you gotta take it anyway so just have fun and enjoy helen... she is hilariously bizarre!

I had her last year. She is a PSYCHO. I'm into new age things, but this wasn't new age, it was useless. For about 4 weeks, we say in a circle making letter sounds, like "pah" for "p". It is a useless class, and only required for theater so people would take it. If you are doing this class for Gen Ed like I did, DONT. She is extremely subjective.

DO NOT TAKE THIS FRESHMAN SEMINAR!!! I took this class not knowing it was "in the theatre"...only take this if you are thoroughly interested in theatre and LOVE to read a LOT. only thing i liked was no tests, only discussions so it was sort of easy to bs your way through them. really useless class though.

Wow, this was a strange class. I took it because a friend of mine was, and we spent most of it trying to stifle our giggling. The little "trips" she takes you on at the beginning are kind of cool and then it just gets way too new agey. Also, if you're positioned wrong, she will come and reposition you. Also talks to a spot above your head.

Her FSEM Cold Case is the worst class. YOu have to do a ton of work to get an OK grade in her class about a boring and useless topic. Too much work for just a FSEM

I worked hard to get an A in her FSEM. That doesn't mean it wasn't a horrible class. She expects you to read thousands of pages of mind-numbingly boring material. Requires a lot of unreasonable writing. Must be available for out-of-class activities. Has distracting mannerisms. Considering there were no tests, class was as horrible as possible.

Helen Housley is, unless you're a moron and don't go to class or have any sort of inclination to actually LEARN when you go to college, an excellent professor. If you're going to warm a seat, then she's a terrible person. She's an excellent professor who's very helpful and easy to approach. If you can, take a class with her.

Please, don't subject yourself to the ignorant, biased frustration that is Helen Housley. Some of the stuff she says is just wrong, and she will not admit it. She tries to pull wool over the eyes of innocent theatre students. Favoritism much? Her plays SUCK; herds leave at intermission. Biased in grading. 111 is supposed to be fun... this is NOT.

I took her for Freshman Seminar-Cold Cases: Mystery and History.Didn't really enjoy the class at all-it was pretty boring. She isn't a very engaging teacher, but she's nice enough. TOUGH paper grader, never got an A on one. Overall, the class was probably my least favorite. Can't speak for her as a drama teacher though.

Her class was very interesting and I had an A until she gave me a C- for participation even though I participated every class period. Apparently I was supposed to participate 5 times per class to get a good grade, would have helped if she had told us that. Its a great course, just make sure you participate.

One of the harshest graders, your papers must be grammatically perfect. If you do the readings class isn't that hard, just make sure you do all assignments; she strictly follows the schedule, no late work accepted. Expects her students to act professional. Speak up in class or you won't pass. Challenging, but she knows her stuff and it's worth it.

as an advisor helen rocked. if she didn't know the answer she would find out before guiding you wrong. as a teacher she can get rather nit picky, she can be very detail oriented which can screw you on papers especially so don't slack on them.
