If you're interested in going into any profession that involves interpersonal communication, I would highly recommend this class. Prof. Sterk is good at the subject. The two textbooks were either too basic or way over my head. She does interject some of her own agenda, but it is minimal and not detrimental to the course. Rather unknown about class.

I took Professor Sterk for the honors section of CAS140 and despite the fact that class periods were always lively and interesting (primarily due to class discussion), I didn't learn a thing - or maybe I just don't get what the class is about, still. Definitely take Sterk if you are into rhetorical analysis, but if you're not a major ... forget it.

Dr. Sterk is an AMAZING woman. her knowledge and passion for what she teaches make the class entertaining. her class, not even exaggerating, was a life-changing course for me, equipping me with skills and tools to perceive the world with Christian discernment. If you can take a class with Dr. Sterk, do NOT pass up the opportunity!

We are incredibly blessed to have Dr. Sterk. Not only is she absolutely hilarious, she is also a leading scholar on rhetorical analysis and feminism. Her class is filled with relevant, up-to-the-second analysis of pop culture and anything else. You will learn so much more than any other CAS140 section with her, and you will love every minute of it

im smart. and i dont know a WORD thats coming out of her mouth. she ties EVERYTHING into feminism and puts people on the spot ALL the time. she makes simple concepts complicated and i dread the class.

SHE IS A TERRIBLE PROF. she made me hate communications class. Avoid her if possible, take Sandberg instead, my friends in her class loved her. Sterk is boring and puts people on the spot.

without a doubt my favorite prof i've had at Calvin! she's funny, fun, excited, awesome, sweet, radical, excellent, gnarly..... she's also very helpful and she even recognizes me walking around campus and says hi . Yeah, she's awesome!
