Lectures are not very useful. Seems like a nice guy but not organized at all (just about two months before final mark was posted). Wastes too much time in class. Would NOT recommend for an elective!

Comment:

The best prof in the engineering dept. Teaches you that the best solution is the simplest. Quizzes are challenging as are the tests. He is always extremely helpful when approached outside of class, and very personable, not like most others who think students are a lower form of life.

Somewhat challenging to learn from at first, but when you get to know his style, you realize he is a very practical and down-to-earth prof who does not cover any unnecessary fluff. Only the raw material.

Very confusing. Lectures did not follow one another. He gets off topic a lot and seems to take a long time to say anything useful. Group work was interesting but meant that everybody only did 1/4 of the work, which does not help learning. Exam marks took 2.5 months to get. I don't feel I learned.

I had this prof in 2002 and 2003, he is by far the best prof at UBC engineering, people who are complaining haven't obviously experienced stiemer or ventura. Dr. Prion knows his stuff and most of all knows how to communicate it. He is very helpful in his office hours and cares about the students

He means well... but his teaching is so sparatic.... His examples confuse me more than anything. On a Monday we can assume this... but on Tuesday it is wrong. Also the textbook is %^(*#^%(*#&$ useless... he should teach us before he makes us take the quizzes. Has a nice attitude... just to confusing

Makes us learn by reading the textbook only. Also, the textbook sux. Virtually provides no notes(this is due to the fact that it doesn't help the hw problems at ALL). Claims that quizzes are based on readings, but after 3 quizzes, I find that reading the text is almost completely useless. BAD PROF
