He's a very nice guy and encourages participation and questions. But he doesn't post the slides online and he moves through slides too quickly so it's hard to take notes well. I ended up with a lot of incomplete notes and missing information, so studying for the tests was really difficult. The tests also tend to be detailed, so you need to study.

Lectures can be pretty darn dry sometimes. He doesn't post the slides online which is somewhat frustrating since it feels like a right to me. The bullet points on his slides are kind of out of order sometimes which is hard when you're listening and jotting down as fast as you can. Despite his flaws, he is chill and he means well.

I adore this professor, he is clear when lecturing and the way he handles his class is straight forward. The content is pretty easy as long as you pay attention/read. 1 midterm, 1 final, and a few assignments with discussion which are easy. He is kind to students. Easy class but some find it boring.

Dr. Eerkens is an organized & thorough lecturer. Lecture pace is perfectly rehearsed with slides for full note-taking (even by hand), which I suggest you do. He does post lecture outlines, but no slides, so go to class. His study guides are great. A good TA is imperative to paper grading, because 2 papers, midterm, and final are your only grades.

Test are all based off lecture, no study guides, and although the exams are cumulative the class begins in reverse chronological order starting with the Inca and then moving on to cultures that predate the Inca.

The class wasn't that difficult. Got by without working overly hard on the lab assignments or studying that much. I also didn't read the lessons and studied only off my notes and did fine. Professor Eerkens puts together good slides (except for the time he used dark blue on a black BG). Sometimes lecture is a bit dry. Remember names.

Dr. Eerkens is nice and funny. He can be a teensy bit dry at times but his lectures are pretty interesting and he is also very nice. I think it is unfair to rate him off of the grading his TAs did! The TA we had was a TOUGH grader. But that is not his fault... Overall the class was interesting and useful.

I very much liked this class and the lectures were straight forward and interesting. Eerkens spoke clearly and the TA was also very helpful. Projects and quizzes are easy, the midterm and final are more difficult.

This is one of my favorite classes here at Davis. The class isn't very rigorous, but lectures slides aren't posted online so you do need to go to class. However the material covered is very interesting and Professor Eerkens is very knowledgeable and is a very engaging lecturer.

material : interesting and straight forward. One midterm, he gives out a study guide and its pretty helpful but pay attention to detail. Our TA (David. K) was helpful. He also posted lecture outlines but don't rely on that, show up to lecture they're cool. One essay assignment, which was to watch a movie on mummies. Final not to bad, just review.

He was a pretty good professor. Packed lots of information into lectures. It is good to remember smaller details as well as larger concepts, because it will come in handy on tests. The book chapters that were assigned didn't always coincide with the lecture topics, but some things from the book were on the test. The labs were really interesting.

The class is pretty easy. If you show up to lectures and put some effort into the labs (which are kind of actually fun), you will easily pass with a good grade. Make sure to pay extra attention to details, dates, and names.

Pretty easy class if you are use to taking science classes. If you attend lecture every day, you do not need the book. Consisted of midterms and a 2 write ups for mock archaeological projects.

Great professor, I took his class my first quarter and enjoyed it so much I took another one he was teaching my second. He is engaging and fun to listen too, his office hours are the most helpful I have experienced at Davis.

Eerkens made prehistoric technology as interesting as it probably can be. Fun lectures, kinda long, but there are 3 hands on learning labs which were super interesting and allowed for a break from the classroom. Would def recommend for any anthro student! You'll learn just how hard it is to make a stone tool!

Prof. Eerkens has fairly interesting lectures and answers questions clearly, but his tests are ridiculous. You would have to memorize every detail he ever mentioned to ace them. I am usually an A+ student, but I got Cs and B minuses on his tests (after studying hard!)

Class is actually easier than expected. No chemistry knowledge is really necessary, so he spends a good chunk of time going over what should be known before taking Archaeometry. Very interesting applications of sciences to archaeological practices. Homework seem kind of irrelevant. Tests are easy if you go to class and take good notes, no book use

Jelly is a pretty cool guy. His midterms seem lengthy but I finished them early. Just know your stuff well and skip the hard questions for later. He always asks if anyone has any questions and does a really good job answering them. There are quite a bit of things to memorize and the lectures can get really boring.

Pretty good Prof. Always answers questions in class. Midterms were too long and difficult for this class and generally require memorization of a lot of random things in addition to a good understanding of major concepts. Overall, lectures are clear and somewhat interesting.
