He definitely knows his stuff, but I don't think he's very good at teaching it. He doesn't try to explain things very much, he sometimes almost gets ticked off, because he expects you to know it already. Because of this, his class was kind of hard. He's a fair grader, though, not easy! As far as attendance goes, he doesn't have a spine!

If you are interested in learning German, then Stern will teach you everything you want to know and then some. Love his classes. Tough grader and knows when someone is b.s.-ing but then again, he should by now. If you're not up to it, don't waste your time - or his.

If you are looking to get something out of German, take his class! He is an unbelievable teacher - the best I have EVER had. But if you are looking to slide through, I would not recommend it. He is incredibly smart, but you really have to pay attention to catch it all. Overall an awesome prof!!
