Don't do it to yourself. Disregard any positive ratings about this guy. He lectures for the entire 3 hour class, it made me go insane. Tests are ridiculously hard too. In the end, I got an A- but it's only because I spoke to him about my grades and showed that I care. He didn't really wanna hear it but in the end it helped my grade. Don't take him

This professor lectured for the entire three hour class. Gave a 5 minute break in between then went right back to lecturing. Class felt like it went on forever. He is an extremely tough grader and it seemed like he didn't want anyone to pass. Class was difficult and long

If you're looking for an easy class, turn around and run. If you want to really get into something and truly understand it, you found the right guy. Participation is big, tons of reading, and abstract thought abounds. But I loved it, and wish I could take him again.

I've taken Dr. Catalano multiple times, and I think ultimately your decision of whether or not to follow me into his next class depends on your passion for the subject. He undeniably knows his stuff. I love his lectures, but if you don't you wont score high on his specific tests. Fun, but not an easy A by any stretch of the imagination. Work fun

The whole class is lectured. There's only 3 tests; 1 quiz, the midterm, and the final. They're all only 4 questions long. He loves his work and students. If you participate and actually try he won't fail you. One of the most understanding and caring people I've ever met.

There is no due dates on the syllabus for any assignments. Everything is just lectured that's why attendance is mandatory.

I loved it a lot, but you have to put the effort in and keep improving. He explains the material well enough for students to understand, but if you are not a quick learner, I wouldn't recommend the class. The tests are all short answer, but there are only 3-4 so it isn't too bad. You need to go to class to learn how to play and material for tests.

He likes to talk about himself. The worst thing is every class he is talking about how 'our generation has killed the English language' and 'We are ignorant in correct writing structure because of the failed teachings of our public schools'. You can see how this gets old. He is a tough grader and doesn't explain what is wrong with the paper.

At first, I thought he was a bit crazy, but then I realized that it's actually his passion for his profession. He cracks college jokes at times and makes class pretty fun sometimes. Not going to lie, he does like talking about himself at times, but it somehow relates to the topics in class. Put effort into his assignments. I recommend him.

Don't be afraid to take this professor! His first quiz is very hard but then the rest of the semester is quite easy. He knows a lot about jazz and is really nice if you get to know him. I'm actually thinking of taking him again in the future.

If you're a lazy ignorant person don't take this class, but if you appreciate education, art, culture and are open to learning new things then he's your man. I love Dr.C so much! His class changed my life, he's the most selfactualized human I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. His passion is truly inspiring. I aspire to be like him one day. aa

Unless you've studied Greek mythology your entire life- you'll be miserable! Expectations are extremely unrealistic and talks to class as if they're incompetent.

He is very much full of himself and loves talking about who he knows. He does know his stuff though and I agree unless you know jazz. He's a uniquee grader it depends on how much he thinks you know

Misleading and confusing. Plays favorites and if you're not one, you won't get a great grade. I got a B+ which isn't bad but many of my assignments were A's, so in the end it didn't make sense. When I asked him why he simply responded "A B+ isn't bad."

Yes he is a little into himself, but he is really a great teacher. People who think his critical writing class is boring or hard do not have a basic foundation of english, which is what he is trying to fix and to go above and beyond other teachers. papers=easy. just show effort, its an easy A if you try. Very engaging class as well.

THIS CLASS IS UNBEARABLE!!! DON'T GET ME WRONG HE KNOWS HIS STUFF BUT HE LECTURES FOR 2 1/2 HOURS. DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU HAVE A REAL PASSION AND KNOWLEDGE OF JAZZ. HIS TESTS ARE HARD AND HE IS A HARD GRADER.

The class meets once a week and seems to drag. He is a little full of himself as he likes to talk about himself a lot. He talks like Jazz is the most amazing thing in the world. He is a nice guy, though, and his tests are kind of hard. He'll throw things in that you'd never think would be in there. If you know about music it makes it much easier.

I'm not going to lie... the first day of class he scared the crap out of me. So at first he scared me into learning. I learned more in that class than any other english class I have ever taken. Call me crazy, but he was one of the best teachers I have ever had.
