Dr. Mathews is the best professor to take for Anthropology 1000. She is very nice and definitely wants to see her students succeed. She gives so many extra credit opportunities. Her tests are easy if you study and she'll probably give you extra points on your test if you visit her office hours. TAKE HER!

Although this professor is tough when it comes to grading, as long as you show up for class and read the text book, she will do anything to help you. Amazing professor, gives multiple chances to improve your grade. If help is needed go to her or the Pirate Tutoring Center, go because it counts, she checks who goes. Definitely a wonderful professor.

She is willing to help you if you show her that you care and go to class regularly. She is passionate about anthropology and it makes lectures interesting. She gives example questions in the beginning of class that really test your comprehension level and help you study for tests. If you put in normal effort, you will do well.

She's a really nice person but her class is hard. If you ever miss class you will be very confused and behind. The material is painfully awful and boring. Honestly she is a nice woman but her class is not even worth taking. I have all A's, and a C in her class.

I loved her as a teacher. She's a great person who has a genuine love for her subject and students- if you do your work. Read the text book however boring it is!! Pay attention in class and go to class and you will pass! Don't text or pack up early either.

Wasnt excited about anthropology, she made it interesting. Really cared about her students, learned and remembered all of our names (100 students in the class!!!) attendance not mandatory, but gave 10 xtra credit pts on final if you missed less than 3. easy to follow class, many opportunities to higher your grade

Loved her! I am not particularly fond of the subject, but she kept things interesting. She didn't have very organized power points but they were easy to follow. You did use both of the books that are required. I would recommend reading. Class isn't mandatory but if you don't miss more than three classes you get extra credit on the final exam.

WOW. You will learn how to write. I had her my first year of college and......I got my feelings hurt. It was okay! I still remember the red ink on my paper: "Think of your paper as a blueprint......right now, it's not a passing paper." I think I know where I got my teaching style from. THANK YOU! Excellent instructor.

As an EC Scholars finance major, I frequently found her class frustratingly inapplicable and agonizing. The literature used is usually leftist paperback drivel used to boost her perspectives, not necessarily to enhance critical thinking. Beware.

The class was not mandatory but if you do not go you will be lost. The study guide that you have to buy does not help at all, nothing in there is on the tests. Her class was so boring it was hard to stay awake. Her tests are really hard too..stay away

Pushes students very hard to really think about the course material, expects a great deal from students; however, you will be a better student and better writer when you finish her class. She really does care about the students doing well and getting something from her class. Not for those looking for an easy A, but not impossible by a long shot.

The class is kind of interesting. The assingments are fun.I personally liked her. She does have a seating chart but you get to pick the seat. PLEASE pick a seat up front b/c if not, you may fall asleep. I made A's on the assignments and B's on the tests. Just study what she tells you to study and take notes. She also gives extra credit.

Dr. Mathews was not a very personable person. The reading was boring (quizzes easy). Definitely need to prepare for mid-term and final... Use plenty of examples. Spend lots of time on your term paper. I felt that her grading was not fair, but I somehow pulled out an A. Do not expect an easy class... Also don't expect a very nice lady..

Dr. Matthews is an excellent professor! She listens to the students, respects everyone's opinions, assigns interesting reading, and has very interesting points to make. She even brought food from Mexico where she does research for the students to sample. Go to her office, because she really opens up to the students. But she makes you work hard!

She is a HORRIBLE teacher, she had a seating chart for a class of over 80 people and it was impossible to stay awake in this class. Everyone did horrible on her tests because her study guide was unclear. She also wanted exact dates and names from every chapter in the book. I would rather learn anthropology than memorize it. Do not take her

This teacher is extremely hard. Her tests are nothing like the study guide, so dont waste your time doing it. You have to read way too much for a 1000 level class. She takes attendance but if you go you will be talked to sleep. Never lets class out early. Do not take this class you have to work way too hard to even get a C.
