Homer's passion for linear algebra is infectious, he makes you want to learn. He goes pretty fast through dense material, however, and there will often reach a point mid lecture where you're just lost for the rest of the lecture. He will bend over backwards to help you outside of class. Homer is a wonderful guy, and an ok teacher.

Comment:
The professor chose to take off 2-3 weeks for vacation and attending conferences. This is a significant portion of a 7-week term to be without office hours. This professor has no interest in helping students learn and rewrites the theorems from the book on the chalkboard and calls it lecture. I enjoyed every calc class except MA 1024 with Walker.

There is a quiz every conference...and thats the hardest part of the class. But they are on the material covered that week (and that day in class). He is not as hard as everyone says he is. He is quiet and extremely nice. Just go to class, take notes, and take the quizzes and you should be fine. He is easy to understand and approachable.

Professor Walker is a really nice guy, however, it was difficult for me to say that I knew exactly where I was in the class at any given time. The professor missed an entire week of class (Midterms week of all weeks, also) and can get quite lost in his own material/lectures. Shy away.

If he could speak a little louder and just kept his wits about in lecture he'd be an awesome professor. He's extremely smart and exams tend to be on the 'harder' side. But he's a nice, understanding fellow so you can always reason things out with him.

Hard to get an A in his class, but easy to learn. He likes to think about a problem theoretically before he attacks it, so you as a student can understand where to take a problem from the beginning. Go to his office hours if you're having difficulty.

A very nice man. Loves his math a lot. Although he definitely understands what he's talking about, others sometimes don't ;) Generally, a great math etacher if you are not particularly interested in the subject. But exams may be hard then ;P
