Very straightforward (hybrid) class, as long as you do the bare minimum of watching videos, doing homework, and showing up to exams you're p much guaranteed to pass. You get to use cheat sheets on exams (USE THEM!) and honestly was a very easy class. Studied for two hours before each exam, crammed in my index card cheat sheets, and easily aced them

Fair, precise, & clear. Easy to contact outside of class. Don't let the first class scare you off. All quizzes are announced, asks that PP slides are printed out in order to follow along (worth the paper!!), provided pdf textbook. Most will have to exert themselves for an A. Extra credit offered (1% total grade). Will/have taken his class again.

Comment:

Took his hybrid class so I only had to go in for tests. Nice dude but his tests are pretty difficult. Class is out of 500 points, 2 midterms (100 points), 9 quizzes (90 points), 3 homework assignments (60 points), final (150 points). Gives up to 70 points of extra credit throughout the quarter. Your grade pretty much reflects your effort.

He's a really straightforward professor. I took his online class, and the lectures are really clear. The quizzes and tests are pretty easy if you do his practice quizzes and exams (he repeats a lot of questions from the practice exams on the actual exams). Do not take this class if you're a really big procrastinator though.

Didn't really like this class. The quizzes are very easy but when it comes to test they are ridiculous. He also discourages students from emailing and asking questions. Not a friendly professor but I managed to pass but will retake in the future with another professor.

It's an online class, but attendance is mandatory for the first day and exams. I received a B+, but I easily could have received an A because he offered quite a few opportunities for extra credit, which basically guaranteed a passing grade on the final exam. Basically, put in the effort and pay attention to the due dates and it'll be an easy A.

Teaching 4/5 He teaches pretty good. Towards the end, the lectures do get a little more tricky. He offers a lot of extra credit. Fairness 5/5 Everything is so straightforward. If you have questions, he will answer them. Reasonable 4/5 I think anyone can pass if they put in the work and effort.

This class was so hard to understand online. You basically teach yourself. The online lectures are unhelpful even during the easy chapters and they are difficult to understand. I regret not taking a regular class.

Got scared to take online math class, but had no other option. As soon as I listened his online lecture, my headache was gone. Lecture was very organized. He e-mailed weekly schedule and I simply followed his directions. Easy class if you put your efforts. Extremely helpful during office hours. I liked him smile when I went his office. A+ teacher

Dr.Kim is a supersmart guy. He never hesitates answering our questions. Everything is right top of his head. Frequently emphasize the importance of statistics in engineering. Encourage us to do well in class. Will definitely take him again. Mandatory attendance is painful ;-(

Spring 2010 Online: Easy if you watch lecture slides, read the book, and do hw before quizzes. Class is out of 500 points: Hw, 9 assign at 6 points each. He gives you answers. Very good professor. Knows what he's teaching. He makes sure that you understand. His funny comics and jokes make statistics more relatable to. Make sure to attend every class- attendance is mandatory! Study the blue book and you will do fine. Thank you sooo much, Dr. Kim!

He's the best statistics professor in Cal Poly. If you are a math(statistics) major, I highly recommend to take any class from him. He's very organized and his lecture notes are extremely helpful. He explains each topic crystal clear. His tests are not super easy but if you study with his lecture notes, you will be fine.

All I have to say about this guy is...WOW!! Extremely organized dummy proof teaching method complete with go at your own pace online voice over lectures. he is the moderator of the class and you tell HIM what you need to better understand material. His 5-wks hybrid class was tough! Lots of information in 5-wks, LOL! Though, I've learned a lot and I still couldn't believe I've done that. He was a very caring person and taught us well. All the questions were answered clearly during lecture. His blackboard site and bluebook are the BEST!
