I took his class in 1991. I don't recommend attending his class at all. He was a good professor but does not know how to convey his knowledge to students. You can buy good text books and read yourself.

Literally the worst professor I have taken in my entire schooling career. Structs II test average of 23.4%. 52% of the class got below a 10% on this last test. In all seriousness, a word to the wise, if you can get into ANY other section, not taught by him, of this class, do. (This coming from a student whom values his schooling.)

Didn't believe the hype and figured I'd sign up and give it my best shot (solid Dean's List student). Tests on material not covered in class, HW or even book. 13+ hr HW (when alone w/o group)...Passes off his opinion as fact, neglects reasons WHY certain standards exist in industry... despite being a SME and having 'written the book'. 1word: Avoid.

Took him for structures II and I can say without hesitation that he is the worst teacher I have ever encountered in my entire educational career. He DOES NOT TEACH. You teach yourself or you fail, homework is impossible and only in matlab, which doesnt prepare you for his diabolical tests (class average 20% or lower)

I'm never one to talk poorly about my professors but Professor Curtis has to be one of the worst teachers I've ever had in my entire academic career. The man talks down to his students quite often. His lectures are very boring and can clearly be illustrated as half to three quarters of the class is often sleeping during them. Bad class/professor

Amazing professor and very experienced, shows you how to use Matlab to solve engineering problems. Test are very easy only if you paid attention and diligently did your hw which, very few do. If your goal is to just pass the class with an easy A/B without learning or putting in effort, look elsewhere.

Ok I took him for Space mech and Structs 2.. Avoid this man.. please.. the only good reason to take him is 40% of class credit is attendence..and thats just because he was put on probation for failing to many kids.. Lets keep it real. His book sucks, it has an 80 page document of errors. His test grading is horrible. office help is good though.

Great teacher always willing to help in his office hours and prompt replies through email. Very easy as long as you DO your homework. He splits the class in teams of 6 or 5 to do the homework, now you will fail his class if you do the whole 'one person per problem' thing. Make sure you understand all problems of the homework not just 'your share'.

Class materials is very easy, but he assigns LOTS of HW that is to be done in groups, so get a good group. Helpful with things pertaining to the course, otherwise, not his job to teach you "smaller" material. Exams are cake and he gives you answers ranges, but there is NO partial credit, but he tells you throught the lectures what ppl screw up on.

School refuses to remove this prof because he has two "acclaimed" textbooks. Talks down to students, teaches by reading the text aloud and pointing via the doc-cam. Tests are unreasonable, mainly due to grading, not content. Plan on pulling your hair out if you take this course. "A child of 4.2 yrs of age knows that!"

Worst teacher of all time! Simplifies nothing down to understandable level, give insanely hard homework (all in MatLab mind you) which is of no help on the tests which are insanley hard themselves. Test average on last test 8.8.........need i say more. Take the advice seen here.....avoid at all costs!
