professor short is such a nice man who's very passionate about literature. his assignments are not hard (3 essays) but his grading can be extremely tough. he's serious about attendance and reading before going to class. if you do what you have to do its not bad at all

Worse teacher ever had . Only took this class because it is an requirement. Does not give clear instructions and grades harshly. He gives unreasonable grades and explanations for essays we had to do. The final was awful. Never helped us study or give us a review. Good luck to those who have to take him.

Comment:

The only reason I took him was because he allowed you to revise every paper. I stayed up to till 3, 5, and 7 am writing for this class just to receive unsatisfactory grades. I stressed more about his class than any other class I took that semester.

Great professor. You have to write 6 essays during the semester, but he gives you a sample essay before hand so if you follow the format exactly and do good research depending on the topic- easy A. If you don't get a good grade, he gives you a week to revise the essay and will change the grade if you correct it. Take advantage of office hours!

He was a cool teacher. We read a lot but you only have to write 3 essays. The final was not another essay like a usual English class, but an in class test but he was nice and allowed us to write the essay at home. Overall he was a good teacher but has a hearing problem so speak up in class. I would take him again.

Honestly I thought this class was going to be an easy A as English has always been my strong suit. But NEVER take this class even if you don't think it won't be that bad, and you just do it for the credit, you will regret it. Take this warning. If not good luck...

Such a nice professor, does everything he can to help you. The class along with any other ENG120 is all about papers- usually 5. Hugh Short lets you submit every paper, he grades it, and then you can revise it and he always gives a better grade if you try. Would take again!

Very nice guy. Expects a lot of real analytical thinking of you. Which is good for a teacher, but it can be difficult to give him what he wants. He DOES grade essays difficultly. He knows his English teacher stuff.

I took Dr. Short last year for my first semester of college. In ENG120, he gave out an example essay before we had to write our own. That made it easier to follow and see what he expected from us. He is so genuine and caring. I want to hug him! I found his class to be really rewarding as long as you do the work he assigns.

Hugh Short is a very helpful professor. He was there for me when I needed help with grammar and worked with me until my work was completed. He is super helpful while writing papers. You can go to him at any time and he will help you with any of the work. Expect a paper a week though.

There's at least 6 essays that have to be done and he's not the greatest at explaining something in class but if you see him for extra help, everything will make sense. He's full of energy and tends to get sidetracked alot. He's all over the place but a great guy.

Hugh is a very nice man. He is very passionate about the subject he is teaching. However he is one of the toughest graders I have had at Iona. You need to make sure your writing skills are good. The one thing I disliked immensly was how much participation weighed against you. He is easily approachable,and I reccomend him if you want a tough grader.

nice guy, not the easiest teacher but he does work with you and lets you correct your papers for a better grade, but you really need to correct it to get a better grade. I would recommend him, if you do your work you will do fine.
