I'm not going to lie to you, this class is boring. I got an A- and didn't put too much time or effort into this class, however I recommend attending. Hugh is an old guy with great experience and wisdom to share, but sometimes drones on a little too long much. All I can say is just listen because he will tell you exactly what you need to know.

Hugh is a great guy! Your overall grades consists of quizzes, a midterm, and a final. The quizzes were conceptual and easy if you paid attention in lecture and skimmed the chapter. The exams are all computational and not too hard either. If you put in the effort to listen and try a couple practice problems you will get at least an A-.

This doesn't even have the right to be called a class ultimately, because the quizzes were trivial nonsense and the exams came out of nowhere with material we never learned until the day before. It was one of those courses where you sit there, listen to him talk and get a B. He was always there to "help," but it never addressed the question at hand

Though the course isn't difficult, you're going to be upset that tuition dollars were wasted on this man. He's clueless and should not be instructing an upper-level operations management class. The exams are computational, but you won't know how to do the computations because no quantitative examples are presented during lectures.

Hugh was the man! There is a weekly terminology quiz but if you pay attention you'll be fine. The 2 tests are math based and are a bit more challenging but he gives you homework similar to what is on them and he is very approchable and friendly! Take this guy if you have the option!!

Easiest professor for BUAD306. One quiz per week, usually always on Tuesday's and he does a quick review for it. There is a midterm and a final and the quizzes. Each worth 33% of the grade (he gives you 1 %). You will need to know how to use the excel templates but it is a a lot easier than having to do the math out by hand. Nice guy

Thompson uses real life examples/stories to make STATS interesting as can be. He allows time for questions and answers thoroughly before moving on. Do your homework problems and you will do great on the mid-term and final. Pay attention in class & quizzes will be easy-he goes over most answers beforehand. About 3-4hrs worth of reading-homework/wk.

Your grade is arbitrary, its based on grading curve that only so many people should get A's,B's etc. Only reason to even go to class is for the quizes(which by the way are weirdly worded and painful) the final exam was easy but again since he grades on a curve it all depends on how everyone else does. I dont think any1 learns anything in this class

This class relies on you to do most of the learning, since Prof. Thompson wont teach all that much; he spends alot of time chatting with the class. That said, the class is still easy. 50% quizzes, 50% open-book final. Quizzes are easy and final is easier.

Great Professor. I wouldn't have had a chance in the class without him translating the text. The book was useless!! He took a complex topic and made it understandable, adding tons of good anecdotes.

I would, in a heartbeat, recommend Prof Hugh Thompson's classes. He is a compassionate Professor who brings to the table real world experience. In my mind, the best kind of teacher. He is well versed in Statistics and he explains concepts in a simplistic way for others to understand. Sign up for one of his classes!
