Ian's class is pretty hard if you're not great at memorization, or if you don't put in the work to absorb the material. The textbook might help you get caught before the midterm if you've missed any classes, but after that, he goes into detail about the subjects he covers in class. You want to make sure you show up to most classes to pass.

The textbook is not vital, but if you don't do the homework the lectures are imperative to pass. His lectures are interesting & well prepared for auditory, visual, and even kinesthetic learners if you enjoy note-taking. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM! be prepared for intense finals, but they're not too bad as long as you come to class and study your notes

Dr. Rush is hands down the best professor I have ever had. He really cares about his students and their success. His lectures are interesting and he even throws some humor in for good measure. Attendance is needed to pass however. But you're not going to want to miss his class! He is AWESOME!

Really great professor. Finds a way to personalize every lecture and make it interesting - even if you don't like history. It does require some work, but it's definitely worth the effort. Really recommend.

Dr. Rush is a fantastic professor. He made a subject that I was not interested in taking, my favorite class for the semester. His class is tough, but he is very clear of his expectations, and willing to discuss anything with you if you have a question. His lectures are interesting and detailed and he takes his tests mainly from his lectures.

I am now a biochem student at MSU. I had him last year and is probably the best teacher I've had in college. Book quizzes were a bit challenging, and reading the books were ESSENTIAL bc of the quizzes and one short paper. Normal quizzes were simple and exams a breeze. He made the class very interesting and taught better than any teacher at MSU.

Dr. Rush is a great teacher, he is extremely passionate about the subject material. It is not an easy "A" but it is worth while, there is a lot of reading but his pleasant banter during class sure makes up for all the work performed by you.

Dr. Rush is an amazing teacher. He makes the lectures easy for you to understand when you take notes, and he is a funny guy so it's definitely not boring. This is not an easy "A" class though. You have to put the work and effort into earning your A. Two books with papers & quiz, two map quizzes, tests, and notes. Not a slacking class.

If you love European history, as I do, Dr. Rush is the right instructor for you. I took HST 121 & 122 as well as HST 260 with him. His classes are reasonable in the expected work load and it's all laid out in a crystal clear syllabus. He is a great instructor and throws in some humor. Come to learn, take notes, listen, and you will succeed.

I took HST121,HST122 and HST 260 with Dr. Rush. European history is my favorite and he is the right instructor for the job. Great teaching, his expectations are clear, and if you want to learn the class is not hard. Take notes, attend class, and listen to succeed. Rush is one of 3 of my favorites at WCC. Highly recommend!

Dr. Rush has great knowledge of the subject matter. His class is definitely a difficult one, however his class is the one you want to take if you want to learn. It's college, you are there to learn... grow up. Study hard. I got an A because I took notes and studied.

Mr. Rush makes it very easy to do well in his courses. If you come to class and pay attention, he lays everything out that you need to know. Tests are often verbatim from lectures and study guides he gives out. He is very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. Lectures can be a bit dry but that's the worst I can say.

Rush is a difficult teacher in terms of how much work you have to do in his class, but he's wonderful. I am terrible at history so this was a ton of work for me, two books plus textbook and printouts. I had to do twice the amount of studying for this class that I had for any others. Rush really knows his stuff though and teaches it well!

This professor is amazing, by the end of next semester ill have taken all the classes he offers. He is by no means easy, but he is very fun and very understanding of any situation you may have arise. He gives you plenty of time to get your work done, and always does his best to answer everyone's questions. I would highly recommend him.

I took HST 121, 122, and 260 with Ian, he's a great teacher. He's very personable, but makes the coursework challenging enough for a university class. He's always polite, and very discreet with talking about grades. Overall my favourite teacher at the college. Unfortunately for me I'm out of his classes to take! :)

All his tests are multiple choice or true false. You write one paper, and 2 essays on the mid and final. The only problem with Rush is that he does not expect you to know why things happened but more when and who was there. Yes he knows his stuff, but over all the class was a bore.

Excellent professor, across the board. Lots of work to do, though, including two monster tests and a nasty book report (with a topic that he assigns). All his notes are extremely clear, and his lectures are good. He's great about answering questions, and has a great sense of humor. Listen well and use the study guides to get an A!

Very organized, clear teacher. Knows his subject very well, hardly any need to buy/read the text. Can be very easy if you show up for class, and look at his outlines and reviews which are all online.
