Ian made some very difficult material clear to me for the first time. He is very passionate about his work and shows this in his teaching. Always constructive criticism in his marking, which is fair in itself. Animated, friendly and interesting guy, it's too bad he doesn't teach more classes!

Really didn't like this prof. Found his lectures mundane and predictable. And if I see the presocratic line one more time I'm going to freak out!

Have to give props to Dr. Stewart, had an excellent year, and enjoyed the interaction and subject of the classes, which he made really interesting and challenging, and took us on a field trip or two. Great professor, his strength is teaching; his pedagogical philosophy is effective and engaging.

Dr. Stewart is a pretty cool guy, and he is quite helpful and friendly. He can, however, be distracted and sometimes grumpy, but overall, a brilliant man who deserves respect and recognition for the work he does both in his field, and in the classroom.

Really good prof. His ideas are clear and concise. I like his slower pace, because it allows me to get all of the information. He's also really helpful outside of the classroom, and he always has an answer to your questions. All around one of the best I've had.

He was a great tutor- he managed to make Descartes understandable! His lecture on music during hte Renaissance was also really good- he had people come in an sing the different types of music that was happening then.

IStew can be a little vague at times, but he is always more than willing to have another go at conveying his ideas if you don't grasp it right away. He is particularly good at putting the texts in their proper contexts. One of the top reasons to take HOST, for sure.

Yes, the man has a Phd, yes, he knows a lot. But the way he presents it is erratic and occationaly egotistical. He has developed a sense of distrust and tention in a class that was much more enjoyable when Kyle was teaching it.

Oh Ian, you stared out the window during our tutorial way too much. We'd try to talk and you would shoot us down in a second. It was hard to learn about anything when you try to teach us this way. You are a good-looking man, at least you have that going.
