Boring lectures. Lots of reading, although it's not necessary to do them because he lays out the topics covered in slideshows quite nicely.

This guy is soooo boring. Took Environmental Ethics. Literally every day is just him discussing the essays that were assigned and that nobody read. Zero class participation/engagement.

I could listen to Wilks lecture for hours and hours, he is so engaging and interesting. His sense of humour is fantastic and he makes any topic captivating. His tests are completely fair and gives you the essay questions in advance. He is completely open to discussing the questions in and outside class. Overall, amazing prof, take his classes!!

I've taken three classes from Ian so far and I can't wait to take more. He is by far the most intelligent person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, his lectures are very interesting and he has a nice touch of dry humour to boot. On top of that, he is a fair marker. I definitely recommend his classes if you don't mind rather heavy readings.

Thoroughly enjoyed the course, it's quite a lot of reading but as long as you understand the arguments put forward in the papers you can get by fairly easily but you have to be able to construct an interesting and well structured argument in essays. Although you don't necessarily have to attend lectures it's worth doing so just for the debates!

I've taken three classes from Dr. Wilks so far and I'm arranging my entire 4th year so I can take one more- brilliant professor! Fiercely intelligent and intimidating at first, he's not as scary as you think. I could feel my brain being challenged and stretched in new ways. Excellent, excellent prof.

He is a good guy in general, but sometimes hard to follow. Its a little odd to see a prof swing around like a 5 year old on a playground with his hands on his hips, but to each their own.He goes above and beyond to help people understand or exel in his class.Although I was not fond of his tests, people who like essays& reading should take his class

Nice guy. Very well spoken. Kinda shy after class. Seems afraid of you outside the classroom. But all that besides...Is teaching Hegel and Fichte, the inspiration for Deuchland Uberallis and other such nice stuff a good idea? And then he'll say it was the commies that were inspired by Hegel just an apologist. Obscure but dangerous.
