She's super nice and approachable, but a bit disorganized. I also didn't think she explained the concepts that clearly. Her grading is pretty fair and generous though. Do your readings before class because she might call on you to answer questions.

She is honestly lovely. She does however spend an inordinate amount of time talking about her expectations and what level you should be at. Her explanations are clear but her lectures can be scattered. Tests can be on materials she said wouldn't be on them, though her marking is generous. Study hard and attend! Overall I enjoyed her class.

Has issues arriving to class on time. Can be a little bit careless when organizing her quizzes/exams. But she keeps the mood in class light, her explanations simple enough and I enjoyed learning Japanese from her. A lovely teacher overall :).

I think her exams are easy. Have to attend to the every lecture because she might have pop quizzes and assigned homework. Also stay concentrate when she is talking because she might ask you questions suddenly. Have to ask her questions after class because she didnt make her teaching clearly.

The class is a bit hard but very interesting and useful for those who want to learn Jap current news/politics/economics. It gives you a chance to learn lots of vocabs. Itoh sensei is very nice and concerns about student. Talk to her outside class, she's really helpful

first week, and the classrooms were changed without letting anyone know. the first assignment given used no furigana, and the photocopy was so bad the kanji was barely legible. the lecture is hard to follow. she expects you to self teach a lot, and puts you on the spot, frequently. I feel like an idiot if I don't figure it out..

JAPN 102 was pretty easy cuz half the stuff I already learnt in high school, but even so she teaches @ a SNAILS pace! She talks slow, pauses alot, doesn't use japanese much, repeats stuff she said before, and is NOT able to comprehend questions! Can't explain! Very boring, and tends to go off topic sometimes. Always laugh at her own unfunny jokes. Pop Quizzes are nightmares. Midterm was brutal, but final tends to be easier. Likes to pick on students who does not pay attention or falls asleep. Instructions on exams and quizzes are all in japanese, and sometimes words you have never seen before.

Lots of people complain her emphasis on memorization, but come-on: you're trying to learn a new language as an adult: can't get anywhere if don't get some patterns stuck in your head. Really spends lots of time preparing. Took summer-intensive with her back in 2000 and still remembers me today. I seriouly consider her my best Japn instructor ever.
