He is a great professor and chose such interesting readings to do in class. On day 1 I thought about dropping this class because he seemed intimidating at first but I'm glad I did not. He really warms up to you and makes the class very interactive.

As much as I love working with Ira, and as much as I'd like to say I enjoyed this class, I didn't. There's too much student-student criticism and not enough profesor-student criticism. There's nothing worse than a bunch of beginning playwrights who already have their heads up their own butts critiquing you when you don't know what else to write.

Ira was awesome in this class. I learned a lot. He's very understanding of your involvement in department productions, but is still able to challenge students. He's a great teacher, you ALWAYS take classes with him if possible.

Very interesting class. You'll love the readings and there's a lot to learn about theatre history. The midterm & final are mulitple choice and he gives you a study sheet. Weekly quizzes on the readings.

Hauptman sounds like Christopher Walken, so his classes are really entertaining. Sometimes he talks so soft you can't hear him AT ALL, and he says theatre: theAtre, which is funny. Overall I like his class.

I hear his other classes are ok, but I did not like Contemporary Theatre. Lectures were boring and the plays were awful. Showed R rated movies in class all the time, so if that bothers you, stay away (in his intro classes this might not be a problem). 2 papers, 14 quizzes of 1 question each (you only need to get 7 right), presentation, & final.

Prof. Hauptman was a good professor. He's strict about his class rules but as long as you put effort into the work and follow his rules, you can do well. Attendance is 100% mandatory. You're allowed to miss 3 classes but use those for emergencies.

He is very smart and helpful. No curveballs, you know the first day what is expected(attendence, assignments etc.) You will have fun reading and learning new plays and theater history facts even if you are not a major/minor. It will compliment your edu. It adds diversity to a science major and he is a great mentor if your in Drama. Take Him!

Professor Hauptman is a GREAT professor! His course involves a multiple choice midterm, a final exam, a review of a departmental play, a written playlet , an oral skit and class participation is 30% of your grade. If you do the work, you will actually have fun and learn a lot in this introductory class; if not, you will fail. It's as easy as that.
