Make sure if you have him to sit closer to the front of the room, hes quiet. Also, pay attention in class, he repeats everything atleast three or four times. He writes random notes on the board but it doesnt hurt to write them down, itll help study. Tests are easy and are in essay format.

Comment:
This rating is specifically towards his Philosophy of Religions class. There was no exploration into the philosophers, instead, you got a one sided atheistic lecture for 16 weeks about why there is no God and why the belief is ridiculous in his opinion. He trails off and mumbles often, and his notes are sporadic and sometimes hardly legible.

I have had him three times. He is hard to hear occasionally and stresses key points a lot, which can frustrate people, but he does it for good reason. He will help you if you visit during office hours, and taking notes is ESSENTIAL in order to do well. Classes were hard but I would take him again in an instant.

Great class. He is hard so you MUST understand the material. Also ALWAYS do your homework becasue he will randomly call on people to read their answers out loud. Although he is an all around good professor.

He's a nice guy, but he gets really sidetracked. Just answer the questions he asks, and appear interested and you'll do fine. And he can take a joke, I pick on him all the time.

Great professor! He is highly intelligent and gets the class to think deeper about the subject at hand. He can sometimes repeat himself three classes in a row. I really enjoy his classes because they are intellectual. His tests are essay-style, but the paper can save your grade. Doubles highest grade. Nice guy, approachable. Highly recommended!

he sucks. it's the worst class i've EVER had to sit through. he doesn't speak loud enough and he mumbles to himself and its REALLY hard to understand anything. he talks about concepts and he uses the book. he also assigns homework and says "he may check it" but he never did! good luck in this class fellow participants =]

Dr. Newman really knows his stuff. You have work to do for almost every class but he didn't collect much of it. I can understand how some people think he is boring, but if you are interested in the topic he is a great professor to have. He really knows what he's talking about.

This is one professor I wish I would have taken more classes with. Thank you, Dr. Newman, for teaching me the higher-level thinking to one of my favorite areas of study. I came home after taking that class, and impressed the heck out of one of my old high school teachers. Thanks for giving me a different perspective!
