This class is very difficult, but Furrow was my favorite of the three professors. He took the time to explain the material and was very open to questions. He was also very available to help students after class. His test questions were pretty tricky though.

lecture slides are mostly pics from the textbook so, listen closely to what he says and write it down. he is pretty clear on the topics he teaches. his multiple choice are straight forward but requires you to know the topic very throughly bc they are be pretty tricky. learn a lot in this class, nice guy too

I feel indifferent about Furlow. He is my least favorite out of him, Usrey and Gomes. His lectures made me sleep. Tries to crack jokes here and there but only a few laugh. He was really good tho so take him. Very knowledgeable but if u find someone better, it wouldnt hurt not to take him either.

This guy is great. He's great at teaching the topics. Very clear and if anything is confusing just ask him in office hours. I really got into the endocrinology lectures and although he didn't teach it I now want to take his Hormones and Behavior class!

great professor and very approachable. make sure you pay attention to the disease he mentions in class cause his questions are more conceptual rather than factual. overall a good professor and def recommend!

Furlow is really fun and tries to keep NPB interesting. I found his test questions to be much more reasonable than Ishida's. Slides were well organized.

Dr. Furlow is one of my favorite professors in all of the classes I've taken at Davis. Though NPB101 is extremely challenging, he still made it extremely enjoyable. You can tell he cares about all of the students and wants everyone to do well. He also loves what he's teaching about, which is a nice atmosphere to learn in. Great teacher!

Great professor! I loved his lectures and his tests are much easier than Dr. Ishida's. But don't get me wrong it's still tough! If you keep on top with the material and know your stuff then you'll do fine. I managed an A in this class but it requires lots of studying (well before tests). I read the book for Furlow's portion of the class.

Dr. Furlow taught this class with Dr. Ishida. Absolutely loved this class. His lectures was not as dry as Ishida's but maybe it's because he talks fast. Takes questions from old exams. Exams are quite fair, averages were around 60. Study for this class, a whole lot of information squeezed in 10 weeks. But overall, i loved this class!

Professor Fulor is great! His lectures are pretty interesting and will keep you listening. He makes jokes here and there, some are lame but most are good enough to keep you focused. His test questions are clear and straightforward, unlike Ishida (who taught the class with Furlow). Overall, I recommend taking him!

This class is great. It is, however, challenging. Dr. Furlow and Dr. Chang are sooo approachable and nice, I love them. Overall, the class is extremely interesting and I highly recommend. The exams require a lot of understanding and designing experiments (but then again, he has covered how to do that in lecture). Study for it, and you will be fine!

I didn't like this class at all. Furlow rambles a lot & goes off on random tangents so that it's hard to understand what the main point of lectures is. His exam (essay) questions are tough and his grading is even tougher. Grading based on 2 exams + paper. There's a nice curve, but dont take this class unless you're very interested in endocrinology.

I learned a lot from his lectures; he's a great professor and he cares about his students. Dr. Furlow and Dr. Ishida teach this class together...Dr. Furlow's lectures tend to be less dry. The exams are the reason I would never take this class if I knew better. The best analogy I can think of is getting kicked in the face by a horse. Enjoy.

One of the best professors I have had at Davis! Lecture slides are clear and the recordings are also available. Office hours are helpful, and my biggest recommendation is to get ahold of old tests!! Both he and Ishida genuinely care about their students and their understanding of the subject. GO TO CLASS and STUDY EVERY DAY and you'll do great!

Dr. furlow was pretty cool, I had both him and Ishida and found furlow much better at explaining. however, he writes most of the final and it completely kicked me in the face. the midterms were difficult but the final was a terror. study EVERY DAY, its the only way to get by or even pass this class.

He is clear, a little monotonous, and is fair. His test were all based from everything in slide and lecture notes. No need for book. Also, the class recordings helped a lot if you miss class. Go to office hours if you don't understand something. He is very helpful. Very important to do all practice questions for the exam!
