Midterm, paper and a final, each is worth 1/3 of your grade. Everything he says in his lectures are important, you should record everything he says because it will be helpful for the exams. The exams are all essays, but a week before the exam he will give you a couple of paper topics and will randomly pick two, so prepare. Details!!

Don't take this Professor, just don't. He gives a lot of readings, but ultimately grades us based on his exams which weigh a lot. His exams aren't really specific because he gives you a list of 7 questions to study, but on the exam gives you 2 from the list. If you have him for some reason, make sure you're never absent and take good notes.

Hes a good Professor who definitely knows the material hes teaching. Make sure to take lots of notes & the tests wont be that difficult. That being said, his grading rubric is almost nonexistent (the grades he gives seem super subjective rather than based on a system). Also he likes class discussion so dont think you can pass w/o ever speaking.

Great professor. Read weekly, and take great notes. Easily done he's a great lecturer. Notes will help you answer the in class essays for midterm and final. One essay assignment based on one of the readings. Learned a lot without even trying in his class. Great for LWS majors and I wish I could take him again.

One of the best professor at John Jay, he has a pasion for what he does. The mid-term and the final are both in class essays, as long as you don't miss any class you are good. I thought this class was going to be boring but it ended up been my favorite.

He is a really hard grader. I studied for the midterm extensively and I felt like I did pretty good. However, to my surprise I failed the midterm. And he only give a final and paper. So the midterm was important. He should offer a grading rubric because I felt like I answered the questions.

GPA killer. don't do this to yourself

He's a great professor! Mid terms and finals consist of 7 questions of which he chooses 2. If you're detailed you can receive extra points which can help with your overall grade in case you don't do well on one of the questions. You use the book a lot. And he makes the class interesting!!! His examples are awesome!

Prof Jacobs makes this class very interesting. I was hater of philosophy. I did not care for it until I took his class and really enjoyed it. He is not a tough grader. He grades you on a curve.

Want to do nothing? Pass Prof. Jacobs. His slogan is: "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." So get ready to work hard. The man is smart as hell, and he wants YOU to be smart, too. A lot of readings, no quizzes, everything is known in advance. Explains everything, from the material to his expectations. It was an extremely interesting class.

Professor Jacobs will surely keep you up in a Political Theory class, and you will get your money's worth! 2 exams and a term paper. In addition, attendance is a must! Other than that, listen to what he lectures and read the limited amount of reading = you will do fine.

This Professors only down fall is his Grading Rubric. It sets you up for failure. Other than that, Great text, Great class discussions and a review before two exams(essay). 1 paper(6pgs). But honestly I wouldn't take another one of his courses b/c he is an unfair grader as per this unique 5 points for a good sentence rubric.POL270

Took Pol 230 (gov). Great professor, two exams (midterm and final) each worth 50% of the grade. Pretty easy and easy to understand. Fair grader. No papeprs. Read the book, brief cases for each case you read. Collects briefs unexpected, not graded, but counts towards your midterm or final, or both. Come to class, read, brief, exams, = easy A.
