This is a gen ed class, so there isn't too much that King asks from you. Take it from experience you have to show up to class to do well.

He is ok, he doesnt really follow the syllabus. He is a stickler on papers. Overall, I say he is pretty average. Goes on rants a lot in class.

I really like him he is really nice and fun, also lenient. He gives extra credit if you participate in soc stuff and he has good speakers a lot of the times. He doesn't ask much but you should read and pay attention to the things that are being discussed in class. He also takes a while to give grades but he is really cool. also not too much work!

Nice guy BUT very unorganized. He did have guest speakers available for your specific field. As far as learning, you won't get much out of him. Extra credit is available but it conflicts with ppl work/school schedule. Not an easy A. His assignment explaination are vague. He tells you the assignment but there is no guideline. Seek diff prof if pos.

CLASS IS POINTLESS! You don't learn hardly anything in class because he just likes to hear himself talk...about nothing! Out of a power point that contains 75 slides, he gets through 5 in one class period. The tests are based on the book, so read the book.

Granted there was almost no organization I feel like I took a lot out of this class. He taught us by having us do things rather than mindless homework. As a class we argued to have the syllabus changed. We won. We worked on a project to change a law in IL and we are on our way to doing that. Sometimes disorganization is key. I loved this class.

Not the best teacher I've had. Came to class late and left early in only a 50 min. class. Very unorganized, no skills in class management, and poor teaching skills. I recommend taking someone else for Intro to SOCI. His grading stysem is unclear and he puts not effort towards improving anything. I did more than recommended and it did not pay off.

As a person, he is awesome. He is really interested in helping his students outside class and cares a great deal about the sociology program. However, This is definitely a self-taught class. Class is unorganized and the assignments are unclear. You MUST read the book and study hard for an A. Going to class is also helpful!

Probably the best teacher for the spring semester. He's down-to-earth and funny. There's plenty of extra credit opportunities. I don't believe that the class is boring--I found it interesting. The class is easy if you read the book, attend lectures and have an open mind. There are also plenty of extra credit opportunities!

Absolutely the worst professor I have EVER had in my three years of college. He was unbelievably unorganized during every class meeting. I cannot recall a single instance where he had a lecture prepared for the class, and would check the clock frequently to see if class was completed.Classroom was a very unproductive place. RECONSIDER ENROLLMENT.

as a person, he is amazing. he's very interested in helping you get an internship or a job. however, as a professor he is TERRIBLE. there is no structure, no lecture. you're thinking great right? wrong. the final is all from "notes." attendance is random. forgot to tell us about an assignment but held us accountable for it. ruined my perfect gpa

Overall he is a wonderful person. He's funny and cares about his extracurricular activities that indeed help people, but as a professor...he is horrible. He has no structure for lecture, his assignments are always wishy-washy, never exact due dates. The assignments are easy, always have to read one book and do one interview. Attendance is random

Jack King is a pretty awesome dude. He likes to call us his "honor students." Class is not mandatory, but make sure to study for the tests! He offers a lot of extra credit. This is by no means a blow off class. You need to work to get the A- but its not as hard as it seems.

So Jack King is a pretty cool guy. He really knows his stuff, just doesnt convey it 100% clearly to his students. If he says you are going to have a quiz--study like its a test--because it is! I got an A and missed about 5 or 6 classes BUT did all the extra credit (he offers a lot).

Jack King is a fun teacher to have and has fun teaching the intro course to soc. Tests are deceivingly tough though. Study book intensely. Should get an easy A with participation, homework and a little bit of studying for tests.

Interesting and helpful class.Gives the student an opportunity to test whether s/he is really serious about social work or at least serious about knowing what organizers for social change do, etc.No doubt EASY class:student decides if s/he wants either a traditional test or an actual "issue" involvement. About three [easy] college-level papers.
