This was a terrible class. I hated every second of it. Everyone I knew was failing most of the time. Did not like Jack as a prof at all. He's incredibly monotone, doesn't explain things properly and his exams don't have anything to do with what he talks about in class. You basically have to teach yourself from online to pass.

RUN. My gosh. I'm a good student, A's and B's across the board and I barely passed his class. The tests were ridiculous, there was no way to prepare for them, I read the whole textbook twice and still barely passed the final. He talks in monotone, uses no notes, and doesn't attempt to make his class interesting at all.

The only way to do good in his class is to memorize the whole textbook + your own research on topics that are not covered in the text. Lectures were alright, but be prepared to have surprise questions on midterm that were never covered.

There is not enough room to describe how awful Jack is. Geology is my minor, but if I have to take another class with him ever again I will either switch to U of A or change my minor. He has been teaching so long that it is obvious that he truly does not care anymore. An absolute JOKE.

I dont think he even cares anymore, worst professor of my life. Even in 100 level earth science courses pulling a A- is next to impossible with him. He does not give any good information. Only chance you have is read and re-read the textbook but wait, there wasnt even a textbook for this class. If you care about your GPA dont take a class with him

I CANNOT believe this man is still here. He's by far the WORST Prof I've ever had!! PLEASE listen to everyone on here and DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT take a class with him! He doesn't use ppt. He doesn't repeat important concepts. He speaks way too fast so it's IMPOSSIBLE to write all his notes. His exams are pathetic. Contained material he never covered. He makes it more complex than it really is. No one gets above 80. Class avg is like 50-60. HORRIBLE! AVOID HIM. Fire him already, macewan! Got a C-

Worst teacher i've ever had. He's so boring and monotone. He doesn't keep anyone's interest. He uses power points with just pictures no notes. For this class you gotta make your own notes.Doesn't use blackboard.Clears his throat every 4 seconds and scared me every time. Exams contained things that he never talked about,Kinda hard.Unclear explanations.

No notes used. Very hard class. Everyone failed his tests. They keep getting harder. I heard that other EASC classes had notes given to them. We never did. VERY HARD.

Does not use blackboard at all so if you miss a class you will be totally lost. Does not follow the textbook at all and his midterms contain stuff he never talked about in class.

No notes so be prepared to make your own, doesn't use the textbook so your out of luck trying to follow in that just talks with pictures, which isn't helpful for all types of learners. His midterms are out of nowhere, but you have to show up for every class or you'll fail.

I would also call him 'tough but fair'. Come to class. Study. Get involved. Use his office hours if you need to. Put an honest effort into your term paper. Don't screw around. If you do, you will reap the freaking whirlwind. Welcome to Earth Sciences, kiddies! Textbooks were optional... but informative, cheap, and awesome.

Most monotone prof I've ever had. Classes consisted of poorly constructed powerpoints and his incessant droning. PP were uselss for studying, as they were mainly just pictures without headings. His exams are difficult, and a lot of tested info are random things from class. He did not answer questions asked fully, or reply to any emails.

Oi. I thought this class was going to be exciting, but Park just didn't know what was going on half the time. When someone asked a question, he would avoid it all together and talk about something else, or say he didn't know and would have to ask someone else. The lab was fun, but the class was so boring. Don't ask him about the San Andreas Fault..

Jack is an excellent prof! If you don't study, attend class, or pay attention in lecture your grade will suffer of COARSE. BUT if you pay attention your guaranteed a pass. Very interesting stories, I've had him for 4 different classes.

Do yourself a favor and drop any course he teaches, for the love of your GPA. His midterms are hard and the most random things I have ever seen. I can easily say that in four years in post-secondary his class has been the all-time worst.

Highly entertaining stories, midterm was hard and I studied for two weeks straight, however it is passable. Some questions were very specific to aspects barely touched on in class. Although there are no notes reading the text beforehand helps. I find the explinations in class clarify any uncertianties I had with the textbook.

Great Prof!!! Really tough on tests though. You will have to know your meterial well, it's not a joke class, so dont treat it like one and you will do well. Not many grades over 80% in jacks classes. Also use his office hours, he's there all the time, not just at posted hours and he's always willing to talk. Great stories as well.

Very unclear about what is necessary for the exam. Therefore all of our exams have a class avg of about 50%. I dont even think he has looked over the exams he gives for many years. it seems as though they are unfamiliar to him. He can be entertaining sometimes, but that doesnt help me get the grades. Write notes like crazy and read the text.

Pretty good prof. He knows his material but often has trouble conveying it clearly. His tests can be really difficult as he often chooses really picky questions that you didn't think you would be tested on. Same goes for EASC100. Interesting material either way.
