Do not take his class if you want to learn. He thinks he is hilarious and uses class as an opportunity to test out his unfunny, and often offensive, standup routine. You do not learn anything in this class, except his feeling on the reading material. He doesn't post grades. You can not avoid him in the English department, but try to.

I learned a lot. My views were challenged and he taught me that if I wanted to say something to be able to defend it. But the overwhelming sense of chauvinism got to me a lot. I didn't enjoy class very much. Although I did appreciate his approach to English. More views and opinions in writing, not quite so structured.

How did he get a PhD? NWU is small so I couldn't avoid him after ENG 1 but I wish I could have. He'd rather be your buddy than teach. He tries to get way too "personal" with students and grades easy once you play his game. He doesn't know what a sonnet is. I used to love English. I learned more in high school. You can't avoid him, but try to.
