He is a great professor. Everything was clear and he gave curves on tests if the majority got it wrong. He is very nice and very willing to help. If you show up for every class, you get extra points on your final. I would highly recommend him to future Education students!

Interesting character. Had him 2 semesters,night day difference, 1st time did not connect to the class-2nd time complete about face. Who knows maybe he was new? very worthwhile topics the diff ways to teach math was really good. Seems to really care about his family. Wish we had had more hands on practice of these techniques to use in classroom

Dr. Piel is great! His class is always fun, goes by quickly and I learned a ton. He uses one text book quite a bit, but only to study for three tests. There's a lot of open discussion in class and you actually get extra credit for being in class. Take his class if you can!

From what I understand, Rice is the easiest for 3120. Not to say Dr. Piel is hard, but he definitely isn't easy. This is a tough course and you'll have to read the book and take careful notes. I enjoyed attending class and I left with knowledge instead of memorization. He's not kidding when he says you need to read the book if you want to pass.

Very egotistical. His arrogance is astounding. If you don't agree that his way is the right way and the only way, then he grades on a much more subjective scale. I left class in tears more than once, just out of sheer frustration, because he is very unclear in material and presentation. I have not used anything he attempted to teach.

I love Dr. Piel's class. I actually feel like I'm learning something. He is so helpful and so funny! His test are hard but you get a 5 by 8 notecard (front and back) to write on and use for tests. He also give big curves. Take his class--you wont regret it.

Test are extremly hard. I felt like there where things on the test we didn't cover in class. You are allowed to have a note card for the test. This is helpful, but don't expect to ace your test. Lectures are intersting enough, he incorporates a lot of fun family stories. If I could do it over I would have taken M. HARRINGTON(great teacher).
