I have read all of the negative reviews about his teachings but I went on ahead and took his SOSC 3101 and this was an excellent course. As long as you show your effort in class by participating in discussions and show your interest, you will do just fine! The good part is there is no exam and the class discussions are very interesting!

He is the worst prof I have ever had at York. His expectations are unclear and his feedback is even worse. Marks are completely arbitrary. Never take a course with him. I have an A average this semester and my average has significantly fallen because of him. Save yourself and your average. Don't take this course.

If you have Jaime as your prof, steer clear. This guy gives out 60s on your first assignment just "so you can make mistakes". And he marks the research proposals with unreasonable expectations. Most of the class did miserable. His expectations are ridiculous. His english is okay, grammar is terrible. Same topic over and over again.

This course wasn't as useful as I thought it would be. It had the same topic over and over again. We only had alot of readings to do and assignments to finish. In this class we don't learn, we only get graded. He doesn't even bother leaving in comments on what we did wrong or right - he just gives out marcs.

His English is not bad, he is really helpful.. think beyond the box and your guaranteed with an A. Just make sure you participate a lot in every lecture he is very serious about participation in class. Overall, great class/ easy readings.

Jimmy's English is not that bad. And it isn't hard to participate in class because he is very nice, not at all condescending like some other profs. You can get an A if you just follow the instructions. He literally hands out an example of the paper to the class so it is very clear what he wants.

His English is poor, readings r from 1980s/90s (talking about goals for the yr 2000)-useless! LOTS of assignments which he is VERY vague in explaining partly bc of his poor english. Many times could argue a mark bc of his lack of clarity. Marked DAILY for putting ur hand up/voicing ur opinion. No real tests, but lotsa work. Easy A if u care enuff!

Jimmy is CRAZY,class is so easy and would recomend it to any one who wants an easy B without doing anything.BUT make sure you participate!I can not stress it enough,thats all he cares about!If your not into participation do not take the class. ALSO he doesnt understand english very well, email is a joke because he doesnt understand your questions!

Pretty interesting course. Lots of reading but he allows a cheat sheet in the exam. Overall, you don't really have to pay attention during lecture (but don't let that fool you 25% of grade is attendance and participation). Easy course as long as you know what is expected of you.

I wouldn't say he helps me learn any of the course material. He is extremely kind and very nice, but often the point of the lecture is lost. Also he has told a few appalling jokes which were really offensive. The course is easy though.
