JP is an awesome teacher. He treats his students like adults, and doesn't really "assign" specific assignments - rather, he makes you figure out what YOU need to do for your specific ideas. He made me not only a better architect, but a better thinker. Take him if you get the chance!

Comment:

JP reminded me that architecture is an art form. His approach is unique, and his criticism comes from experience. He expects his students to challenge the rules, especially his own, and he rewards creativity & dedication. The field trips were fun and educational, and his stories are awesome. JP will make you a better student and a better person.

By far the best professor i have had at this school. Extremely helpful and great at extracting ideas out of you. Takes you on field trips, and educates you on so much more than just Architecture. if you DO NOT want to do work, this is not the professor for you! Come with a good attitude and work hard and you will be all set.

This professor is the most conceded human being, who has the vocabulary of a 13 year old boy...all he does is call things "PIMP." He is extremely unprofessional and I dreaded going to class, and have learned nothing from him, since he relies on the Teacher Aids, or the design and principles teachers to assist in this area.

He seems like a cool guy. He is a bit full of himself and contradicts himself when giving advise. He will tell you to do something and then say that he liked it better before. very hard grader and just gives Cs out like candy. Overall the class was okay. if i could go back and take the class again i would probably look for another instructor.

Jp has an awesome charisma that makes you excited to come to class. He's very clear with his instructions and expectations. His grading at times seems a bit tough, but it's very realistic grading, he's not going to sugar coat anything, but he will make you a better Architect. On a side note, he's still really fun, and has many an amusing anecdote.

He is an extremely chill guy who jokes a lot, so personality wise he's great. He's loose about the rules of what you do so there's more freedom but he is spontaneous in what he does. Grade-wise you have to be very good. His ways teach you to become very good at models and drawings. He's very hard to get used to but you learn a lot.

JP is a awesome as a person... but ugly as a professor. It was great spending class time chatting, but when it came to grading i'm pretty sure he pulled names and letters out of a hat. If you're gonna take his class I recommend asking for an update on your grade/progess EVERY week.

He is a little...unorganized. But he knows his stuff. Will show and verbalize his dissapointment if you don't do the work, so if you are there to slack...wouldn't recommend his class. If you want to do the work required for your major (which you all should) and don't mind a prof who likes to chat with his students, I recommend him.

He's a really nice guy and I learned a lot, but unfortunately has a lousy grading system. He clearly doesn't care enough about us to notify us of our progress during the semester and he also doesn't keep track of it, so final grades come out of nowhere. Avoid him.

He's great as a person, will tell you anything about architecture, BUT HIS MANAGERIAL SKILLS SUCK! He was constantly changing what was required, and what things were going to be graded on. It led to many of us really waiting to the last minute, just to make sure we had the final req's!
