Great encouraging professor, with lots of energy. As a student, it makes it easier when the prof enjoys to teach, and he does. Compared to other profs he does not give a lot of examples, he has a firm belief of 'self study', but in doing so he will answer ALL QUESTIONS. Expect a challenging test, but fair marking.

Great prof, hilarious lectures and really clear explanations of concepts. His handmade notes were hard to decipher at times and lacked examples. Very fair on exams and somehow made me enjoy a geotech class. Really enjoyed all the Simpson's references as well.

Dr. Blatz is an excellent professor because he can teach an effective way and makes it fun. FEA is a challenging course, but if you work hard you can do well. Blatz is funny, encouraging, and doesn't mind helping students out when they are having trouble. However, many of his examples have mistakes in them and his exams can quite difficult.
