Interesting reading the other comments. I took analytical chemist from Dr Bowser in 1984. Great professor, fair grader, taught what was needed and tested the same material. Probably one of the best professors I ever had. And my friends agreed.

Made chemistry lecture fun and interesting. I learned so much from him and enjoyed his sense of humor. If you can, take his Scientific Revolutions class too. I absolutely loved this class. I teach physical science and I refer to both of these classes. I remember his Woody Allen quote, " 80 percent of success is showing up." Stay Determined.

Awful teacher and so hard to stay on top of things in class. Did great in high school chem and bombed almost every single test in this class. Have to retake it, not happy. Avoid him.

Would not recommend him. He walked into class on the first day saying: "this class is not built for Chem. Majors," yet he teaches the class like everyone (a class filled with mostly Bio. Majors) has a strong/advanced chemistry background.

just awful had to re-take the class. He makes chemistry so boring. If it wasn't boring before well this class will make you hate it. So glad i switched professors.

He's a very good professor, actually one of the best I've had all semester. He assuming you know everything before you walk into class so you have to make sure to keep up or you will fall behind. We all know Chem is cumulative so if you fail a test, just make sure you go back and reread it and you'll be sure to pass the class.

Did not like him at all. No homework, all quiz and test grades. If you put a ton of work in on your own you can do alright. Powerpoints and class material/examples are nothing compared to test material. Take Lawson for Chem II if possible

No homework and no attendance. Only tests and quizzes will grade. He doesn't really teach neither. If chemistry isn't your major, avoid him.

The hardest class I ever took. I would study hours and hours in the library with and without people before the tests and I failed every one except one. He was a funny guy but his tests were 10x harder the things he showed us in class

Hilarious, love him as a person. You definitely to work hard and learn a lot on your own, if you don't have a good back ground in chem already your screwed, definitely do all the assignments to be able to keep up. I still liked his class even though it wasn't my best, i would recommend him to people who want a challenge.

basically, he uses powerpoints, and doesnt really care at all if you cant get all the notes down. the material is incredibly difficult, and he doesnt make it any easier by going as fast as he does. all of his grades are tests, and there is no homework or extra credit. average grade on these tests? 60-65. i cant stand this class.

Not a bad professor.. Very hard material but if you focus you can do great. He has a sense of humor and repeats the same jokes alot but it lightens the mood of the class. Attendance isn't mandatory however, it will help you do better.

Dr. Bowser is w/o a doubt my fav. Professor on campus. While his class is hard, he makes learning it an experience worth while. The man is smart, funny, and enthusiastic. So long as you stay on his good side, his class is worth every second. His best quality is no matter how dumb a question, his answer makes you seem smart for asking it. A+ Man!!!

Dr. Bowser is so helpful. I am a student athlete, and he makes sure that I get to make up everything that I miss, in both of the classes I'm taking with him. He is so helpful in office hours, and so funny. In Chem 170 he says good morning in a different language every day and brings fun facts to start each class. But don't miss class! Ever!

Dr. Bowser is a great teacher. He is a tough teacher when it comes to the material. The material is difficult but he is very thorough in his teachings. He is a fun guy who likes to make jokes and is always pleasant! He is one of my favorite professors on the campus. He is tough yet fair and he is always willing to help!

Toughest class as stated by the man himself. First day tells everyone less then 50% will pass the class. Moves fast and is not sympathetic to those who may struggle. FYI Chemistry 1 includes loads of Physics as unlikely it may sound. One exam was almost entirely physics based.

Like many have said, his classes are hard and you do have to put a fair amount of work into them, but he is good at teaching the content - very clear. Has a great sense of humor - "goofy" would be a good word to describe him. Liked him so much that I'm taking 116 with him just as an elective :)
