RUN. Don't bother taking this unless you feel your art is up to par with a graduate. Honestly this man expects too much for someone teaching a "whats supposed to be" an intro course. I thought i would give him a chance and while i did improve i feel it was not worth what i went through. Don't do that to yourself, nobody deserves this.

Okay so first day of class he gives us a list of supplies, not only did we not use all of them but HE CONTINUED to ask for supplies that WERE NEVER ASKED FOR! All you need is A LOT of charcoals, conte and ink and the book. Most of his lessons your supposed to either just know or read from the book. His directions are NEVER clear. GOOD LUCK!!!

This class is EXPENSIVE lots of art supplies. P.B. isn't afraid to tell you how it is, if you're not good with harsh criticisms: be careful. You must be independent and diligent, he expects that you sketch/paint/draw on the side as well as his homework. His instructions for assignments are cryptic. Hard work is acknowledged but not always rewarded.

Brown is invested whole-heartedly in all facets of the artistic process. While he seems cold at times, he's eager to engage in deep conversation. You'll flourish if you're willing to take risks in your work & meet each challenge head-on. Those seeking an easy A for an introductory art class: move along. He's rough, & he'll make you a better artist.

(2-D design) Not the clearest with what he wants in each project so ASK! Do NOT over think each assignment, he teaches from an artsy standpoint but the class is very design based. Doesn't enjoy recognizable imagery in the pieces, favors more abstract FORMS and SHAPE. You can't handle criticism move on ,but stay and you will be better for it.

This professor is always late, does not explain, and if you ask for directions he gets upset. Makes you waste lots of money on materials and book that we didn't use. Doesn't appreciate hard work, dedication, talent, or effort.DO NOT TAKE HIM. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! btw I am an A student and we all got the same grade (C) for the midterm, good and bad.

Incredibly unclear, makes you waste tons of materials. Had him for my first semester at WPU and he didn't teach me anything. No way to contact him. Have to do a few big assignments and talk about them/critique the work of other students. Show up to the final class with your best work and he'll give you his opinion. Art is subjective, unfortunately.

I have never had a worse professor. You ask questions, he doesnt answer. no syllabus, no contact information. Even after asking for it. DO NOT TAKE THIS MANS CLASS! I loved art all my life and never have I been so uninterested. YOU LEARN NOTHING. EVERYTHING YOU DO WILL BE WRONG IN HIS EYES. he should be fired. also NEVER on time for class. TERRIBLE

He was a very bad professor. Did not learn anything besides how to deal with terrible professors. Do yourself a favor and not take him, I got B for the class bc thats what i got on the midterm, which was a joke. We never finished one drawing in class and i have nothing for my portfolio from that class. He made us draw whipped cream and weird things

Basically even if you put the money and hard work into his assignments, he does not acknowledge your effort. He was absent for weeks without any notice so everyone showed up to class when they didnt have to. He likes making people feel bad in front of everyone else and thinks he knows everything. teachers are supposed to give positive critism too

So,a few students think he's a good prof. However he is always late, no syllabus, arrogant, rude and bi-polar. He shows no respect for students hard work. He will belittle u in front of ur peers. Prof are to teach and bring out ur true potential. Dont waste ur tuition on a prof who has anger issues and uses students to vent his frustration on!!

HARD AND EXTREMELY TIME CONSUMING! he gives a lot of projects due the next week and he is tough. makes you think he's going to fail everyone because he says nothing is good enough. he grades easy for 3D classes at the end though. he'll put you through a whole bunch of crap but he's nice at the end

Here's some advise. The only thing you gotta do is to speak up and do somewhat well projects. Stand behind your project. Be confident in your work even if u think it sucks. He means well. Bad attendents, always late to class. He always repeats himself. Bad memory. He grades with his mood. He is not as difficult as everyone says he is.

I love Professor Brown like a father. He's got a tough exterior but once he see that you ask questions and sincerely want to learn, he will help and nurture your gifts. Ignore the hype. TAKE PROFESSOR BROWN!!!!
