Professor Chlup is definitely in my top 10. I took this class as an elective, out of pure interests, and I definitely do not regret it. He keeps the class interested in his funny lectures and pop-culture references. His feedback is informative, his quizzes are easy and funny. I would be glad to have him as my professor again.

Prof Chlup has high expectations of his students. He forces you to work hard. Do not expect to get a B+ or A in his class without working your ass off. That said, I learned a lot. Chlup has a keen wit and his lectures are engaging. Overall he is a great prof.

I loved Dr. Chlup's class, he is an amazing professor who clearly loves what he does and makes learning about the subject really fun. He is a fair tester + marker. He is very clear on what is tested. I took this course for fun but wish to take other courses by him as well. Thank you Dr. Chlup!

I would strongly recommend against taking any class from Chlup. He marks extremely hard. Very wordy in his communications and lacks clarity. Arrogant individual. Avoid his class if you can - I can't imagine an on-line course. I loved Greek Mythology before I took this course. Take notice that his class sections are never full.

His lectures are really clear, and the information is really interesting. He is, however, arrogant and I felt sorry for any conservative thinkings in the class because he will make derogatory comments about your beliefs. Class attendance mandatory, but all around really entertaining and interesting prof.

Hilarious prof! Class is always a great time with him. He is a tough marker and you have to know your stuff for the quiz, however the subject is interesting and if you are interested it isn't difficult to get a B

Fantastic. He makes the subjects relevant to students by cracking jokes or referring to popular TV shows. He may grade hard on essays but, unlike other professors, I value his comments on my essays and found them useful in improving my writing. Pay attention, take good notes and enjoy!

Great prof. He likes to joke about certain topics discussed in class, and is extremely funny. Overall great guy, and a hell of a good prof. Yes, he is a pompous ass, however, that's part of his charm. A bit of a hard marker, but if you work hard, you'll do fine. I would gladly take another course taught by him again.

The course was interesting and about a subject I wanted to learn. Dr. Chlup's quizzes are fair and do require reading the text as some questions come from there and not class. He docked for spelling, even when student knowledge/studying was clear. At least 1/2 marks for obvious knowledge, and another for spelling would reward students who know.

Not the easiest A in the world, but he has a genuine interest in what he teaches, is open for discussion or questions, and has an intricate knowledge of sci-fi shows/Simpsons. Note taking is well-worth it, and feedback on exams/essays is highly valuable. It might not be your highest grade, but if you do well you'll feel incredibly proud.

Yes, he is a tough marker- but writing a Chlup essay will help you become a better writer! Great sense of humour, not to mention the largest collection of Tommy Hilfiger clothing I have ever seen one man own. Best first year prof I had, and I will be taking more of his courses. Made Latin literature fun. I highly recommend him.

Don't listen to what others say. I thought he was going to be a pompous ass, but found him to be really funny. Some think he will be nice, but end up with the opinion that he's arrogant. Take his class and see for yourself. Personally, I found his class quite enjoyable. He is a hard marker though. You have been warned.

Decent professor. He knows the materials, and has interest in the class and what he is teaching. Posts ALL notes online, and all the class time is spend with the powerpoint presentations. Skip the class, print the notes and you're good! He stays available for students to reach him if necessary (returns e-mails promtly, etc.)
