Comment:

He is so organized, he goes in order of the textbook and gives a note sheet every week. Hes super enthusiastic and as long as you out the work in an A is totally possible. I wouldn't take any other Chem professor if I had the choice. He is also available outside his office hours, I had lab during his hours but when I showed up he was still there.

Comment:

Dr. D is such a great guy! He wears a bowtie and is very passionate about chemistry and it shows. He gives out handouts in class that are very helpful along with taking notes. He also suggest practice problems in the textbook which are helpful if you do them, but I mostly used the textbook for extra understanding even though it is not required.

Wears a bowtie. He loves chemistry and teaching and it shows. Sometimes goes too fast. The classroom demonstrations are neat. His handwriting could be improved. He tries different formats and sometimes flips the classroom. H e needs to work on his videos. In-class worksheets are helpful.

Dr. Deavor is a sweet man. He cares about his students and is available outside of class. Unlike other chem 111 classes, there is no online homework, just some in class worksheets and a few "projects". 10/10 recommend.

I loved Dr. D, he's very enthusiastic and cares about his students. However, he's a fast-paced teacher, and if you haven't taken a Chem class since early high school, you're in for a lot of work. He gives no extra credit or make up quizzes/exams, and he's a tough grader. But overall, he's a great professor.

Dr. D is awesome. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you expect to do well don't skip as the material is better explained in class. He is super enthusiastic about the material and finds ways to demonstrate what you are learning to current events. Gives study guides and practice tests. Great teacher and will answer questions outside of class.

Crazy and spastic but really tries to help his students learn the material. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives weekly quizzes so you better go. Homework is graded, tests are kind of challenging but posts study guides and is really helpful and also offers extra credit. Really great Prof.

Dr. Deavor obviously loved teaching this class. It was incredibly cut and dry material but he did his best to make it interesting. He posted study guide and practice tests before each exam that were extremely helpful for the exams however the entire class was unprepared for the standardized final.

Awesome professor. I had never taken a college science course, but with Dr. Deavor I felt very at ease. Stay up with the chapters, work hard, put in the hours and good things will happen.

I hated chemistry b/c I was horrible at it! However, I am doing well in Dr. D's class. Study for his EASY quizzes by doing the HWK in the back of each chapter b/c he will give 1 everyday. Study the HWK, the quizzes, and notes for his tests and skim thru the chapters for the multiple choice. His tests are straightforward! I love Dr. Deavor!

Here's the real deal about Dr. Deavor. He's a very good teacher and his class is very interesting. However, his class is very difficult. You have to go to every class and study--alot. Don't take his class unless you have had chemistry before and did very well. Be forwarned--he will fail you! Twice if necessary!

He's a great teacher, really entertaining and kind of spastic but you can tell he wants his students to do well. You should expect to study a lot since he has really difficult tests, but if you review your notes for 15 minutes after you take them, you should be fine! take him!

I liked him. He is a pretty unique guy and he is very enthusiastic. Alot of people think he's tough, but I think its the subject matter. There's technically no extra credit but he gives 10-15 extra points of bonus questions on tests which aren't really "bonus" material at all--that helps. Good teacher--challenging yet entertaining

Deavor's a good man. Alot of people talk about how they 'hate him' but those are the ones who fall asleep in class and make 30s on tests. He's quite spirited, he reminds me of my ECON teacher who used to pound on his desk with enthusiasm. He's goofy like the scientist in "Doug" which is appropriate...enthusiasm for chemistry is uncommon.

I loved Dr. D! So cute with his bow tie. Tests are not bad if you study class notes. Only used the book to do homework problems (which he doesn't check but are extremely helpful). Definitely memorize nomenclature for every test because it's always on there. I recommend taking his class because it's fun and you learn a lot. I wish he taught 112.

Dr. Deavor is very passionate about chemistry and it shows during his classes. He also really wants his students to do well. He constantly pauses class and asks the class if they have any questions. He strongly encourages students read the text and assigns problems from the book for every chapter. If you do and understand these you should do fine.
