3 tests which account for 100 % of your grade. No wiggle room! Lots of reading outside of class and no ebook option so if you need one for accommodations GOODLUCK! Sometimes funny but other times his jokes cross a line. Nice guy but hard setup for his class.

Garbs is awesome and really knows what he is talking about, lectures are interesting, he doesn't take attendance but don't skip often because you will miss out on something cool. His tests appear easy but he can be tricky, go to lecture and take notes, you'll be fine. He's funny and cares about the material.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! He does not take the subject matter seriously, and instead uses this class as an excuse to present his own personal opinions through his very much western-centric lens. This could've been my favorite class due to my natural interests, but instead it was cringe-worthy and underwhelming.

One of the most interesting courses I have ever taken!! I learned SO much but it is not an easy class. Write down everything because he won't post anything online but its such a fun class that it is easy to go to.

Go to class. The power points are not available online and the itinerary in the syllabus is a joke. The class is interesting enough even though a lot of Garber's information is outdated. The dude still knows a lot of stuff. Test are easy. I expected a lot out of this class and would say that this class let me down just a little bit. Still good

One of the most enjoyable classes I have taken yet. He does NOT give extra credit, The 3 exams make up your entire grade, so if you don't average a 90 on your exams, don't expect an A. I scored a high B in the class, and I think I missed one lecture. The exams are difficult. Take great notes, read the readings, and enjoy a pretty great class.

I signed up for Archaeology of Mexico and the infamous Magic, Ritual, and Religion classes with high expectations. I was gravely disappointed. Archaeology of Mexico was okay, but he was not clear on definitions, expectations, or tests. MMR, however, was really just his platform to talk about recreational drugs and bash religions.

He's awesome, lectures are clear and he's pretty straight forward on everything he speaks about, attendance isn't mandatory but he doesn't post powerpoints or lecture information on tracs so you might want to attend, but his class flies by since he includes videos and mentions related information from today to help you better understand the topic.

Everyone loves this professor and it's totally clear why now. The man thinks he is a comedian and his classes are easy. However, he's always off topic, youtubes constantly, the readings are really dry and his tests are full of trick questions. He has a large ego and and no desire to have any control whatsoever over his students. Take at own risk.

I took his magic ritual and religion class. Very interesting. I learned so much in this class about really random things. He tells a lot of stories (funny/awkward ones too). His test are really dificult though so be prepared to study! this is not a blow off class! Although he says attendence isint mandatory, his test are 95% what he says in lecture

REVIEW FOR ARCHAEOLOGY OF MEXICO: NOT like his other class, tests are essays and there is a LOT of material. Very interesting though, wonderful class--i learned a lot. He has experience in the region and he still tells funny stories. Be prepared to study really hard though! this class is not as easy as magic rit. & religion.

Most of his tests come from his lecture. He is funny and very interesting but you have to pay attention and not get side tracked by his stories. It is hard to not get lost in his lecture so be careful because that can result in trouble on the tests. He doesn't offer any curve or extra credit. Tests are tricky. He doesn't give reviews.

As an anthropology major i think he's interesting and entertaining. He kind of makes fun of people's beliefs though. However, I'm a religious person, and i wasn't bothered by the course, so don't be scared off by the other comments if you're religious. In fact this class was my favorite of the whole semester.

GREAT TEACHER! Attending class is a must as 95% of his tests are based on his lectures. The class is by far the most interesting I have ever taken! Readings are fairly easy. I suggest skimming through them or at least knowing the main points. Tests are fairly decent...sometimes there are some tricky questions so take good notes!

Awesome teacher! just pay attention, come to class, read a bit, and you can make a high b or even an A if you try... Most interesting class i have ever had! be careful though, he writes trick questions on his tests, don't laugh out loud when you read them!

Take Magic, Ritual, & Religion! Dr. Garber is really intriguing, fun, & you will actually enjoy what you're learning. Test are easy, usually half multiple choice, half true/false. Do the readings assigned & you'll make an A. Easy. I'd suggest not taking if you are very conservative. DR. GARBER RULES!

Really interesting class to anyone wanting to learn about various aspects of religion and drugs. Attendance isn't mandatory but textbook is required and he will ask questions on exams regarding the assigned readings. If you're looking for an easy A, don't bother, but it is still a very interesting course.
