One of the worst teachers I have ever had. All he did was read quotes out of the book. We learned absolutely nothing related to grammer. When he graded our essays, all he did was write a letter grade on them, so we couldn't tell why he took points off. He made it almost impossible to meet with him and never offered any help. Don't take him!

Gartner is a great teacher, but he grades like a parent: you can always do better. Although he is a very harsh grader, he'll do anything he can to help you succeed, so long as you ask for that help! If you just sit back and wait for the good grades to come pouring in, keep waiting. Be warned, though! He only gives out three 'A's per class.

i never really had a problem with his grading, but a lot of other people did. his lectures are about what HE thinks (heaven forbid a student challenge the god of english's opinion) about literature, and he grades the papers on two things: mechanical correctness and how close it comes to his opinion. nice guy, but a crappy teacher

He is by far the worst teacher i have ever had in my entire school career. The class i took was an INTRO class and it was like i was a friggin english major. The man is insane and does not care for his students. He should not be teaching college high school middle school or even kindergarden.

Taking his class is a complete waste of time. He is extremely Narrow Minded. He is not capable of thinking outside the box. He is very unclear, rude, unhelpful, and monotonous. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER if you would like to learn something.

Dr. Gartner does not seem to have the time to work with or help his students. It seems as though his goal is to make the course as difficult as possible and without giving any guidance. I strongly recommend not taking his courses.
