Comment:

So he teaches a subject no one wants to take. What makes Henke great is that he does a good job of empathizing with the people in his class, recognizing that everyone hates speech class. As such he teaches in a way that is highly relatable.

At first I was dreading speech class, but Dr. Henke made it easy. Three simple speeches to give and their short. You pick your topic so that better. Tests are a little hard but other wise easy grade.

He doesn't show up a lot. Class was always cancelled. Lectures could get very boring but the tests are simple scan trons. Speeches are short and very easy to do. Watch your "ums" and "uhs" though. Final is a scantron and took about 10 min. I would take him again.

He's mostly a nice guy. You can tell that at one time he really knew what he was doing, but it's also pretty clear that he hasn't been doing a lot in the theatre field recently. you have to ask the theatre assistants to fill in a lot of the details. He's very book smart in what he teaches though. take the class, but ask questions, and studdy.

Forced Labor Camp. If you want an A, you have to work a crew for about 40 hours in one week. So if you have a job or support yourself, you're pretty much screwed. Don't take.... seriously...don't take. Wish I could drop...

Hated this class! Talks like Ben Stein in Ferris Beuller's Day Off. He seems like a nice guy, but im terrible at speech and this class didnt help one bit. i hate it more than i did before. I thought we were gonna focus on dilivery, but its all about the outlines which are confusing. Terrible!

the material we covered was really intresting and the book was easy to read...just make sure you DO read the book and take notes. his quizzes are really hard and his tests are harder...but hes a really nice guy and loves what he teaches.

Although I was DREADING taking speech class, it wasn’t that bad with Dr. Henke. There are only 2 tests in the class (which were kind of hard) and you only had to give 3 speeches (3-5min, 4-6min, 5-8min). I think he grades them fairly easily if you follow his instructions on his speech outlines

You would think a speech teacher would be engaging in class but it is so boring.... He grades speeches pretty fairly but his tests are impossible. If you really want to learn how to speak in public do not take this class.
