Absolutely the most boring teacher ever. He's smart, and really nice, but his lectures are horrific. He grades pretty harsh, and expects a good paper after not really explaining the texts. Just do yourself a favor and don't take this class.

Nice guy, easy grader, boring lecturer. Basically, he tells you to read the entire book in the first week, then spends over a month going over it, so you're okay to pace yourself. He's supportive and understanding, and his grades do not heavily involve grammar. Just stay awake- my class was 9:30-11, so that was the biggest challenge.

Know your grammar in spanish prior to taking this class. Just because you speak the language doesn't mean BU should've put you in this class. Trust me. Fluent, just not on paper. Lectures boring, just have to survive them. Office hours are great, does not make you speak spanish in office hours. Papers are hard. read books 2+x's, only 3 books for se

Although Iffland has a lot of insight, he tends to drone on and on and also mumbles a lot, putting his lectures a bit on the boring side. Not a large workload and the books are fairly interesting, but sitting through lecture without falling asleep can sometimes be quite a challenge. Mediocre class.

A nice person, but teaches at a mind-bendingly slow pace. For this class there is lots of reading, but very few written assignments or tests, so it is very easy to fall behind. He is a sweet man at heart but his class runs very, very slowly.
