Comment:

Pineda is hands down the best Spanish professor I've had at BU. She really cares about all her students enough to explain concepts thoroughly while also stimulating interest. She also doesn't believe in exams, so she usually gives one in-class midterm and a take-home final. Several papers, but often short in length (1.5-3 pages or so).

Comment:

The most passionate professor I've had at BU. Wants her students to get into the material. Super encouraging and caring. Brings up thought provoking ideas. Respects her students. Fair grader. Class was a bit abstract, but enjoyable. Class organization was diverse (lecture, guest lecture, readings, movies, campus events, presentations).

Great professor, encourages participation and discussion. I found the readings boring and somewhat confusing but I did fine in class because prof explained material well. Overall would strongly recommend this clasx for Spanish majors and minors, she grades very generously as well as long as you do assignments correctly.

Fantastic prof, brilliant woman. Always in a good mood. Loves participation and is one of the most understanding faculty members at BU if you need an extension or are having trouble keeping up. Just let her know what's going on and she'll help you out. Very fair grader and pleasure to listen to. Loves sharing ideas and listening to students.

Pineda teaches from a very philosophically-oriented perspective. Often analyzing texts more than necessary, she ultimately gives out too much information to the students, who are forced to keep up with writing the notes rather than participating in discussions. We read only one novel, but the amount of reading was high; tough but fair grader.

One of the best, most down-to-earth professors at BU. The material may seem vague at first but she encourages students to make connections you would have never thought about making. She is a relaxed and fair grader. I have taken two classes w/ her. Highly recommened.

She's sweet, but you don't learn much in class. Hard to track down outside of class. Let's you go early after not getting thru much material. A little reading for homework, no essays. However, I thought the class was a total joke but I ended up getting a B+. If you put in a little time, an A shouldn't be too hard to get. Just study for the 2 tests.

I only had A- and B+ grades, but she gave me an A for my final grade. Despite the impossible-to-complete workload and last-minute assignments, it turns out that she is a very very kind grader, so that offsets the workload substantially. If you don't mind lots of assignments, go for it -- she's a really great lecturer and not as hard as she seems!

NOT recommended. sweet, understanding, thought-provoking, but workload awful & i dreaded class bc IMPOSSIBLE to be prepared. she was always 5-10 min late, ignored syllabus, hw always last minute, if absent gave videos & subs instead of cancelling- like high school! take-home final given dec 5, due dec 12, 1/2 q's covered reading assigned dec 5-9!

The best professor i've had at Bu. She incites thought and respects your opinion. She makes you work hard, but it's worth it, because you end up learning so much in the end. If you can, give her class a try, you won't be disilusioned.

Adela is such a valuable teacher. She is always trying to make the class interesting. She knows so much about the mexican culture that it is a real pleasure to attend her class. Amazing teacher!!!!!!!!!!

whoever has written nice things about this lady must be nuts. every class was a drag, all she does is get up there and lecture at you. not once was i motivated to go to class, and although shes a very nice grader, that doesnt change the fact that she gives way too much work and just lectures at you!

Prof Pineda is amazing. She addresses you by your name, is always smiling & you can tell loves her job. Modernismo class was out of control--readings were difficult but she's the kind of teacher that rewards your efforts. I highly recommend her class :)

She is very interesting and knowledgeable, but she can be a little hard to follow. She is helpful outside of class, so if you need help go to her. The topics in the class are interesting, but sometimes a little difficult to read because of archaic lang.
