Dr. Johnson is one of the best professors I have ever had. I had him for the psychology of race and prejudice. He encourages you to speak in class and always manages to show you both sides of a situation. His class definitely changed my outlook and our society. Dr. Johnson is a passionate man and don't take his seminar if you are not willing to talk

Comment:
Dr. Johnson's teaching methods are extremely effective. He actually scored 6.7 out of 7 for effectiveness, which is practically unheard of for stats. He gives you tons of practice in class so that when you leave class, you are so familiar with the wrk, that studying for exams is much easier. You can actually do well taking this class in the summer.

Dr. J is a very good stats professor among other courses too. He made the wrk easy to learn, providing many practice problems in class. His teaching methods are VERY effective. My lowest grade was a 95 including the final, b/c you come out of class knowing the wrk. If u want to learn and get a good grade, take him. Come, listen, LEARN! simple.

GREAT professor! I was dreading this class because math has always been my worst subject, but it turned out to be one of my favorites. It's long (2.5 hrs) but he gives lots of breaks and he's funny so it keeps class interesting. DO NOT talk in class though, he's really strict about that!

Really knows how to set up an online class to keep it from being monotonous and boring. Other professors should follow his guidelines in this area.

Not a good professor for Stats who had bias toward certain students. No clear explanations were given and the Grad student did all the work and her grading differed from what was taught. It was as if the grad student and Johnson didn't communicate at all. She seemed to hate helping us and him. It was a bad experience. Don't take him for Stats

Makes the class go by really quickly by having huge class discussions about interesting topics. Study hard for the tests! Definitely take him though, he's really cool...and if you do what you're supposed to, you'll get an A.

He is a great teacher. He could easily could have just gave us definitions and sent us on our way. But he brings the class to life by letting the class discuss real life situations.

AWESOME professor. Is pretty strict about things like packing up early and leaving class early. In-class discussion throughout every lecture. The tests are hard but he posts his powerpoints online and tells you what to study in the book. He has a great personality and is constantly joking around. I would recommend him to anyone.

One of the BEST professors I've ever had! Dr. J makes the class so much fun. Test aren't that hard if you go to class. Test are 70% lecture and 30% text. Makes research interesting and relates them to ur life. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this professor. Wish he could be my advisor!

He is VERY strict with talking-will take off 3 points off your final grade every time you talk, even if its about Stats. Doesnt give partial credit, so it is difficult to get an A. Does give a lot of extra credit though. Usually takes the whole 2.5 hours b/c he gives so many breaks bc he is bored and wants to read his newspaper.

Math and I just don't get along so I knew stats was going to be a struggle. He's a good teacher but I still had some trouble. I prefer him in other classes...mainly because I hate math! He is funny and laid back though.

I took this class at the extension site and he told me himself he makes extension classes easier. The entire grade depends on a mid term and a final, thats it, no homework, no papers, etc. He is very funny most of the time though he hates it if you talk to anyone while he is or someone else is talking. Don't interrupt! I am taking him next semeste

Doesn't give partial credit, doesn't answer questions, tells you to look in the book. Writes too many problems on the board for you to figure out and goes off to read his newspaper. Takes off 3 points for talking, when really all we're trying to do is figure out what is going on. Can't understand him. Unimpressed. Good luck.

He doesn't really explain anything. He doesn't know if you're right or wrong- depends on whether someone else in the class will speak up. Doesn't do the review sessions himself (so confusing) or grades. The class is just hard and he's not much help.. but he's pretty cool and funny.

He goes over the material a lot so that the class understands it. I've heard that stats is his less favorite class to teach, but he did a good job with it. Became a lot funnier as the semester progressed. I would reccomend him.

Best class I've ever taken ever! He tests from the book, which can be difficult if you don't study, but the class is loads of fun. Just watch the drop-add sections. If you don't get in his class within the first 2 days of registration, you don't get in. Highly Recommended

He is okay, the class can be interesting, but it is due to who is in your class, not the teacher. He seems a bit prejudice, it is always about 'the black man'
