Dr. Martin passed away this past March. Know that throughout his teaching, he cared so deeply for his students and that, regardless of their attitudes on the concept of philosophy, he accepted them and was open to their beliefs if they cared to share them. May he rest in peace.

I agree with the person below me said Very fair grader. Lets you use your laptop to take notes. Boring class, but the topic is boring in general. He always comes late and lets you leave early. There are reading quizzes over the semester. Midterm and final very straightfoward, he tells exactly what will be on it. Nice guy, easy going and very smart.

He took 3 WEEKS to enter our final grades. Bores you in class by reading from the text, goes off on tangents, and doesn't reply to e-mails (very rude). The only pro is that he gives you the midterm and final questions beforehand. Write it beforehand, memorize, and regurgitate for an A. But, like others have said, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Very fair grader. Lets you use your laptop to take notes. Boring class, but the topic is boring in general. He always comes late and lets you leave early. Maybe 3 reading quizzes over the semester which are curved. Midterm and final very straightfoward, he tells exactly what will be on it. Nice guy, easy going and very smart.

Extremely difficult to do well. Drones on and on about NOTHING except drinking. Every ex. focuses on drinking & makes no sense at all. If you ask a question his answer doesnt make sense. Exams r impossible becuase nothing was learned. However when I got a C+ I politely emailed him about it and he changed it2a B-. Took him 2semesters2 do it though!

He takes the average class grade and makes it a B, which is great cause tests are impossible and D's end up being B's. I pretty much guessed on tests/quizzes and got an A. If it seems hard, dont stress.. easy grader.

I took him for an online course, and even though it all turned out okay in the end, the entire class struggled. Never responded to emails, had us buy two textbooks we never used, and never gave us any grades on anything so we had no way of knowing how we were doing in the class. I got an A, so maybe he's just really easy? **AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.**

i really didn't like his class. his tests and quizzes were pretty hard and once he handed them out he refused to answer any sort of question. i'd take someone else if i could but he isn't impossible. taking notes is really important.

Not bad of a professor but on top of the readings, the subject matter is pretty quasi intense but knows quite alot about it. If he offers extra credit on attending a lecture presentation or term project, I would recommend it. :)

Philosophy classes are usually boring but I felt that this class was quite interesting. He assigns a lot of reading but he goes over it the next day in class. he's kind of strange and uses weird analogies but he has a good heart. Shows up 20 minutes late EVERYDAY and ends class early. For an ethics class, I think he's a good catch!

Really nice guy, a little strange for sure (looks like the Keebler Elf) as he talks to himself looking out the window but a nice person. Quizzes don't count, concentrate on details for the midterm and final and WRITE A GOOD PAPER, this is paramount you must start early to get that done quickly and well. Overall a good learning expierience.

Boring, beyond belief. However, he gives you the essay questions for his mid and final exam to take home and prepare. That is great. A nice guy, who will help you, and is really smart... not his fault the subject is so HORRIBLY BORING (and Im a phil major). Long paper, at least 10 pages. As long as u do well on the final u'r fine!

This ethics class was altogether OK. He didn't keep us there for the whole 1 1/2 hrs but quizzes, midterm and final are straight from the reader. If you like true and false then you are set. Also a 15 pg paper required.

If you want to do well in this class just know these factors and your guarenteed an A. 1) quizzes do notcount. 2) midterm questions are given in advanced but the way he grades the midterm is very critical, so make sure you memomrize every detail and thorughly prepare your answer the day of the midterm (most students bomb the midterm)3) Final is eZ

I thought he was bad as well but he gives a good curve...I got a C on the midterm but I must have aced the final because I got an overall A in that class. Just take good notes and actually do the reading because his exams are usually statements right out of the book.

Questions on the tests are given in advance. Don't worry about the quizzes; they're not a big deal. You have to write a 10-15 page paper. If you know your stuff, you'll get an A.

Weird professor. Always came late to class, even for the midterm and final. If you take good notes you should be ok. Exams and quizzes are mostly T/F. Boring, but you could do worse.
