I enjoyed the class for the most part, however professor Miller had a tendency to be a little pretentious. He also went over time during every lecture. My biggest issue though was that he gave us the instructions for the final essay the day before it was due. That being said, the TA was a very kind marker on all of the assignments.

worst prof. he is so disorganized and through the entire course everyone in the class had no clue what we were supposed to be getting out of it. It was confusing and SO frustrating but it was easy in the end to get a good mark. Though i would fail the whole year though (sex and culture)

Would not take this course again due to material (I don't know how it will ever help me later in life...)but it was an easy 80. Prof Miller was passionate, which I appreciated but sometimes made class awkward.

The class had more auditors than actual students, and they received a majority of his time and energy. Most of these auditors were grad level or 4th year and had previously taken the course, and he lectured toward them rather than those taking the class for a grade. The amount he used the bible in class should have also made it a required text.

For the Sex and Culture course, make sure you have a background in mythology or you will be completely lost. He is a boring teacher but exams are easy to pass if you go to all the lectures.

Professor Miller enjoys the sound of his own voice almost as much as he enjoys making homosexual connections out of nothing. Essays were incomprehensible and every single one left me confused and frustrated. 4+ essays for the whole year for an elective that will never help me in life and felt like a huge waste of my first year. AVOID THIS CLASS!

My least favourite class and professor from first year. Miller assumed we were experts on most subjects that we were essentially learning for the very first time, in this class (which weren't taught well). We also had to do 4 essay courses throughout the year including 3 more for the final exam, and it's not even an essay course. AVOID THIS CLASS!

The worst class I have ever taken. The lectures were incomprehensible and often left me feeling extremely uncomfortable. The professor focussed mainly on gay material which was not outlined in the course description. For a non essay course, we had to write four papers that had unclear and confusing instructions. If you take this course - goodluck!!

HORRIBLE course. do not take sex and culture. Everything is made up! The majority of the TAs do not speak english properly and he refuses to answer questions about essays. I stopped going to his lectures in october because they were so useless.

Do not take this class... It is fun for the first two weeks to a month and then it just repeats the exact same thing again and again. Prof looks for ridiculous details in your essays... NOT WORTH IT

In my opinion Professor Miller was one of the most interesting teachers I have had.He definately had his students in mind while designing the sex and cultures course. He somehow related material that was current to a younger audience which was helpful. Those who thought the class was uninteresting and boring probably never came to class post October

Comment:
Professor Miller is quite pompous and despite his verbosity, says very little. His lectures are built on the flimsiest of interpretations and he desperately grasps at straws that sometimes don't even exist to find sexual meaning in EVERYTHING. It's just a load of BS. Professor Olson's guest lectures were the best part of this course.

Sex & Culture... what a dumb course. Easy mark and lectures become uninteresting QUICK. He seems to force his interpretations a little, trying so hard to make everything sexual. Still, he's funny.

I've never hated myself more than I did while sitting, trying to write sex and culture assignments. He's probably a good guy, but not so effective as a prof. I lost interest in the material quickly, and I've never been given such ridiculous assignments to write. I'd be interested in the Divine Comedy courses, but, Miller's a deal-breaker.

Sex and Culture was entertaining to begin with but the writing assignments are just loads of B.S. that you can easily get 100% on (well at least with my TA). The material also seems to be pulled out of thin air and always focuses on queers, meh its an easy mark I suppose, so I can't complain too much... a funny and insightful prof nonetheless.
